Da Vinci DAC MKII
Created for Those Who Obsess Over Perfection
In 2015, we are releasing the next logical step in the evolution of the world’s highest-achieving DAC.
Da Vinci DAC MKII includes the same dual DAC technology as its predecessor, but it takes it up a notch.
Da Vinci DAC MKII decodes PCM music files with up to 768 kHz sample rates in true 32 bit depth.
It also decodes all DSD files up to 11.289 MHz (DSD256).
FEATURES
_______________________
Dedicated Dual Engines
Da Vinci MKII utilizes 32/768 kHz PCM resistor ladder DAC engine.Da Vinci MKII’s second decoding engine is a pure Delta-Sigma DAC capable of decoding DSD signals up to DSD256.
_______________________
Quad + Dual Femtoclocks
Da Vinci MKII features a total of six femto clocks.
44.1K & 48K Sample Rates via USB
Da Vinci MKII’s first division of tasks has to do with which sample rate it’s receiving.
It uses one clock for music sampled at a rate that’s a multiple of 44.1 kHz,
and another for music sampled at a rate of a multiple of 48 kHz.
Dual Mono DSD Decoding via USB
The next two femto clocks are used in its DSD decoding engine:
one clock for each leg of the dual mono topology.
Dual Mono via S/PDIF & AES
The final two femto clock are used in the dual mono topology of the circuit
responsible for decoding digital music via the S/PDIF and AES inputs.
_______________________
Femto Fusion
With our 4+2 femto clocks, we attack the issue of timing. With our Femto Fusion Injection Technology,
we’re able to reduce the overall 1 MHz bandwidth’s jitter to 68 femtoseconds (PCM) and 97 femtoseconds (DSD).
_______________________
Unique Digital Filter Modes
Da Vinci DAC MKII uses one analog filter in PCM mode: a 50 kHz bessel 3rd analog filter.
PCM mode also uses our auto-duet engine, which utilizes analog interpolation to effectively double PCM sample rates without digital filters.
In DSD mode, Da Vinci DAC MKII has two unique digital filters.
Time Coherence Mode uses our minimum phase digital filter and time optimization algorithm, which removes all pre-ring from the converted signal and realigns the impulse response.
This presents the listener with a more well-defined and natural soundstage. In short, this mode is optimized for time domain response.
Femto Time Mode minimizes the time shifting bandwidth of the DAC IC’s DPLL, providing even better jitter performance.
_______________________
Analog Circuit Innovation
Da Vinci DAC MKII uses next-generation class A shunt regulators with high bias and an ultra low noise JFET.
Next, we added four Texas Components naked zero inductance resistors in both the PCM and DSD circuit.
A dual mono, fully balanced architecture from DAC conversion to individual analog output takes advantage
of three of the quietest R-core transformers in the world with 12 new zero switching noise diodes in the power supply.
Everything is topped off with dual JFET outputs, fully bias in the class A zone with our Instant Power Technology.
_______________________
Inputs & Outputs
Da Vinci DAC MKII features three digital inputs: one USB, one AES (via XLR), and one S/PDIF (via RCA).
It has two sets of analog outputs: one pair of balanced outputs (via XLR) and one pair of single-ended outputs (via RCA).
