Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Racing to April 17

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will indeed make its way to North America, with the release date set for April 17 at a price of $39.99.
The game -- or rather, the half-a-game (as it's essentially a brief preview version of the forthcoming Gran Turismo 5) -- will be sold both at retail and digitally on the PlayStation Store, similarly to Warhawk last year. In addition to physical packaging, the retail version will include a bonus behind-the-scenes video called "Beyond the Apex."
Prologue features over 60 cars (from makers such as Ferrari, Audi and Nissan), five tracks, including Eiger Nordwand, the London City Track and Suzuka, and -- a first for the series -- 16-player online races. Prologue also introduces the Gran Turismo TV feature, an online channel players can access that will carry video content from car manufacturers as well as motorsport programs such as Britain's popular Top Gear series.
