New KURO portfolio to include LCD, front projector

Melsele , Belgium ( April 2, 2008) – Pioneer Europe announces it is expanding its KURO product portfolio into other display technologies. Its ‛HD ready 1080p’ Front Screen Projector and range of LCD TVs celebrate sight and sound in all their senses, guaranteeing the ultimate viewing experience to the most discerning entertainment junkies.

Just as KURO Full HD plasma TVs are setting the standard in the high-definition market, Pioneer will introduce its Front Screen Projector and LCD TV range that deliver the same industry-leading quality and 1080p performance. The move illustrates Pioneer’s flexibility to fulfill affluent consumers’ increasing demand for a premium full HD experience regardless of set-up performance or screen size.

“We are consistently setting the standard for excellence within the HD display category, as evidenced by our award-winning KURO plasma TVs. This introduction is a natural progression to establishing Pioneer’s uncompromised quality across other display technologies. All our products are Full HD - ‛HD ready 1080p’,” enlightens Marnix Somers, Director Home Business Division, Pioneer Europe.

“Our consumers have been continuously challenging us and now we can offer premium products across the range - regardless of the home environment”.

Πάντως τα 3500 ευρώπουλα ακούγονται σούπερ σε σχέση με τις σημερινές τιμές.

New KURO plasma TV's
pixel.gif

Melsele , Belgium ( April 2, 2008) – Pioneer Europe NV announces a new line of ‛HD ready 1080p’ KURO plasma TVs featuring black levels five times deeper than the previous award-winning KURO. Widely recognised for its commitment to creating entertainment experiences that transcend the ordinary, Pioneer takes yet another groundbreaking step towards HDTV perfection.
  • “This new range of KURO plasma TVs exceeds the boundaries of what was thought possible. By continuously reinventing and recreating, Pioneer manages to offer consumers a truly moving experience, the essence of outstanding entertainment. The new KURO’s black levels go beyond those of our previous generation, which in itself has become the industry benchmark against which all other flat screen TVs are measured,” said Marnix Somers, director Home Business Division, Pioneer Europe NV.
“In listening to the vision of creative professionals, Pioneer continues to bring new meaning to seeing and hearing. Our new KURO TVs intensify the visual sensation, altering perceptions of what it takes to provide great entertainment .”
Pioneer’s Philosophy is Absolute Black
The philosophy and the driving force behind Pioneer’s Project KURO is to produce absolute, pure black. True, deep black creates a picture that possesses finer detail, greater contrast, and most important, the ability to generate richer colours not achievable before. Pioneer pushes closer to absolute black by further reducing the idling luminance and improving black levels five times over the previous 2007 KURO models. This has enabled Pioneer to accurately reproduce deeper colours within the high definition colour spectrum.
Pioneer understands that colour is a vital tool that enables creative professionals – from visual artists to film and television producers – to evoke emotion. With varying techniques from the most subtle to intense manipulation of colour , artists possess the skills to arouse a specific feeling within their audience . A high definition TV that can’t produce deep blacks and in turn display an accurate colour spectrum risks neglecting the artist’s intent and losing that feeling.

Evoking Emotion through Sound
Pioneer has integrated unique sound settings associated with each of the KURO video settings – Dynamic, Standard, Movie, Sports and Game. The TVs incorporate an auto volume stabilisation feature that further controls the volume level when switching between different types of programming to heighten the emotional experience. The KURO models boast the most advanced SRS WOW HD technology, providing greater control to manage low, mid and high audio frequencies. The result adds to the virtual surround sound effect and produces clearer, more precise audio in mid to high frequency levels.

Unequalled Intelligence
The KURO employs a unique automatic adjustment feature called Optimum Mode, perfectly synchronising sight and sound. This attribute simultaneously monitors the content and room light conditions, then seamlessly adjusts the picture and sound settings (*1) by even the slightest variation to provide an experience specially tailored to each type of programming. The result is that movies feel more like in the cinema, sports feel like you are on the field and crisp clear narration from newscasts that focus on the message.

Enhanced Consumer Convenience Features
The introduction of the KURO ‛HD ready 1080p’ line creates the perfect synergy between film, video and high-quality sound, helping to blend these into a new world of seeing and hearing like never before.
All models in the new KURO plasma TV range incorporate the following enhanced features:
  • ‛HD ready 1080p’ compliant
  • 9,4 cm ( 3.7 inches ) thinness, reduced by nearly 20 percent
  • A new remote control in line with the look and feel of Pioneer’s AV product range
  • Ready for ISF C3 calibration to customise the TV’s settings
  • Ease-of-use and seamless integration with other A/V equipment
Our top-of-the-range models are equipped with additional attributes:
  • A digital terrestrial and satellite tuner compliant with EICTA ‛HD TV 1080p’ Minimum Requirements and supporting MPEG-4 high definition decoding (*2)
  • An advanced user interface with KURO-style graphics
  • DLNA compliant ‛Home Media Gallery’ for playback of digital assets such as movies, music and photos through a home network or via USB
The new KURO plasma TVs are all ‛HD ready 1080p’ and available in 50 and 60-inch with SD Terrestrial TV reception (available from June) or SD/HD Terrestrial and Satellite TV reception (availability depending on region).

Notes:
(*1) PDP-LX5090 and PDP-LX6090 can adjust only picture setting
(*2) Actual coverage of ‛high definition’ digital TV broadcast services is however typically depending on additional local/service linked parameters, which - as of today – are in many areas still not finalized. Because of this Pioneer only links the ‛high definition’ digital TV capability to the areas/services explicitly listed on relevant product pages on Pioneer’s website or available via the Local Pioneer Service Contact.
