…κλασικά αφού μάζεψαν στα ψηλά τους early adaptors, πουλήσαμε και αρκετά PS3 (στο us…) για Blu-Ray players λίγο πριν ρίξουμε στην αγορά το φθηνό PS3 ας βγάλουμε και κανα πιο φθηνό plug and play BDPplayer για τις μάζες 
άντε να αρχίσουν και το OEM να δούμε Blu Ray στα 200… ο χορός καλά κρατεί και ο περιμένων κερδίζει -bye-

Sony Announces $599 BDP-S300 Blu-ray Player

With cost as one of the biggest criticisms of the format, Sony has announced that they will launch a $599 Blu-ray disc player this summer, according to the AP (via USA Today).
The BDP-S300 will cost $599, yet will have the same capabilities as the $999 BDP-S1 Sony is currently selling, said Randy Waynick, senior vice president of the home products division of Sony Electronics. ...
The BDP-S300 is a smaller unit than the BDP-S1, and is about the same size as a DVD player. Like the current model, it will be able to output a signal in the highest high-definition format, known as 1080p. It will also be able to play CDs, which the BDP-S1 does not.
The BDP-S300 will be the cheapest stand-alone Blu-ray player, save for Sony's low-end PlayStation 3, which costs $499. At CES, Toshiba announced a $599 HD DVD player, the HD-A20, at that point, the cheapest stand-alone high-definition DVD player (again, save for Sony's low-end PS3).
At CES, Sony showed two Blu-ray prototypes, the Sapphire 1 and Sapphire 2.

Stan Glasgow, president of Sony Electronics, said at the company's New York press conference that prices for BD players should fall under $500 by Christmas 2007. With the recent Nielsen VideoScan report that Blu-ray disc sales have passed HD DVD sales since the debut of both formats, is it really safe for Sony to declare the format war over?
Preliminary disc sales data from Nielsen VideoScan for the week ending Feb 18 shows Blu-ray in the lead for disc sales since inception -- the first time Blu-ray has surpassed HD DVD in this category.
The numbers, as first reported by Home Media Magazine, show Blu-ray as having now sold 100 units to every 98.71 units of HD DVD since the inception of both formats.
Crippled by a dearth of new releases and what some attribute to the "PS3 Effect," HD DVD has seen its healthy early lead in the high-def format dwindle over the first six weeks of 2007.
Is this the beginning of the end for HD DVD?
