In the box you will find -beyond the ones already equipped- another 7 extra couples of tips of silicone of all sizes(L,M,S) two of which are double flange eartips (L and S). You will also find other two couples of Comply foam tips (Τsx-200). Totalof1 0!! different couples of tips to find the one that suits you the most. In addition, there is a carrying case, a clothing clip and of course the Tuning Filter System.

Features: What is the Tuning Filter System? It is, quite simply, 3 pairs of filters that are basically the nozzles of the iems (the final piece that enters into your ear). The 3 filters have a matching of "Referemce", "Bass" and "Τreble". Each filter changes the sound signature (not drastically but neither subtly). How come? Quite simply these filters contain foam. The Reference filter contains a small piece of it and corresponds to the company's reference sound signature (the review will be done based on this filter, as I believe it will be the most popular amongst buyers.) The bass filter contains a larger piece of foam and as probably guessed the treble filter does not contain any foam at all.

The whole thing is taken from the everyday life of a modder (everyone who has spent time modding knows) and is a very simple and yet a highly effective way to setup the sound closer to yours tastes quickly and easily. I like.

Clearly a microphone and phone controls couldn't be missing on the T20(i) version. The controls include the traditional up and down volume buttons and a single recessed central button that can do pause, play, skip track, previous track (double and triple click respectively) but unfortunately the volume buttons only work on iOS devices and not on android. The controls are placed very high on the cable (slightly bellow chin point as they include the microphone) which I find uncomfortable.

Also, unfortunately the cable is not detachable. This is something I would like to see but I do not believe that the cable can be damaged easily. (more on the build quality)

Total: If you ignore the non-detachable cable then the provided 10 couples of eartips of any size and type, the microphone and volume-play controls, the tuning filters, the pouch make you think. What else can we ask for? And by the way I saw that Rha also offers similar accessories in their cheaper headphones.

Build Quality 18/20

"(ieM)an Of Steel!"

Stainless steel everywhere! You will see it in the holder of the eartips, you will see it in the mini holder of the filters and of course you will see it on the capsules of the earphones that are entirely constructed by it. Likewise for the splitter and the mini jack which is surrounded by a springy stress relief to absorb the pressure from the buckling of the cable. The capsules are super tough and they are highly unlikely to suffer any damage in the slightest.Actually, it is most likely that you happen to break accidentally something in your environment with your headphones than the other way around... You can use them as weapon if someone tries to steal your new precious headphones...

The cable is an ofc (οxygen free copper) cable that is sufficiently thick and robust. I do not see any weakness in the T20s except for maybe the hooks around the ear (these iems are worn exclusively in an over the ear style) which are stiff on purpose (more about that in the Fit section). If they get messed up too much over the time I don't know if it will be easy to revert them to their former form. However, RHA complements their steel construction with 3 years of warranty to have you covered for any such events. Respect RHA.

Fit/Comfort/Isolation 24/30

"Satisfying fit once you find what suits you..."

Τhe T20s are worn over ther ear and the cable goes behind your outter ear to support the iem's weight. Forget about the classic fit with the cable downwards. So especially if you are new to this style getting the right fit can be a little tricky at first "out of the box". The capsules are of a reasonable size but they can be slightly heavy. This a trade off of the construction...So the compensation for the weight is based on two factors. The cable and the eartips. The cable has some stiffness on purpose on the part that surrounds your outter ear and acts like a hook (earhook) to keep the iem on your ears. The only issue I had is that because of this inflexibility I could not get the hooks to surround my ears perfectly and as a result the part of the cable behind my ear was slightly loose somewhat pulling the T20s outwards. Fortunately the fit from the eartips made this a no problem. The in ear fit is generally very individually depedentand each individual may differ. That's why it is so important to have such a variety of types and sizes of eartips in the box so that the buyer can find what fits him the best. My personal preference is the large double flange tips which held the T20s in place comfortably.

The isolation is decent. You can use these iems in noisy environment without getting disturbed by the noise but at the same time there is a small margin of allowed in sound so that you can some idea of what is happening around you if needed. It is a vented design which actually has some outwards leakage but it very minimal so in most cases you won't be disturbing your adjacents.

Amping and Matching

"T20i+(i)Phone=Love"

Being an iem it is only logical that the T20 does not to require any serious amping. It is very easy to drive and does great with mobile devices. Having played with apple products and knowing that they are solid in sound performance compared to other similar portable devices I feel like these little beasts would become a perfect companion for your iPhone in case you wanted to upgrade your portable sound without a lot of fuss and without spending a lot of money.

Int hat subject I have to say that the matched great with the also British iFi Micro iDSD which is great for portable headphones. In relation to my usual rig [micro idsd (dac)->itube (buffer)->Schiit Jotunheim(Amp) I preferred the T20 with the plain micro straight out of its own amplifier.(used as DAC/amp)

As far as matching is concerned I would personally prefer daps and dac/amps with neutral, smooth sound with a very slight mid emphasis.

Sound Intro

Reid Heath Audio (RHA) is a British company based in Scotland. It is a relatively young company (founded in 2011) but this has not stopped them from having already acquired a solid position in the market with popular products such as the RHA MA750 , T10, CL1, the DAC/AMP L1 and of course the T20. The T20 is perhaps the most popular of them all and at a price that is a sweetspot to get something good without having to spend too much money. So when the company approached us and asked us if we were interested in reviewing the T20i we had no other choice but to accept with great pleasure and interest.

Bass 8/10

"Bombastic"

The bass signature is one of the main characteristics of the T20. Round, impactful and capable. From the first moment it makes an impression and declares "I AM HERE."If you have had frustrating experiences in the past with anemic bass, here this is not the case at all here. The extension is very good and can reach up to 20 Hz and below comfortably without apparent losses. This fact enables the desired "seismic" character (you can feel the vibrations given by that low frequencies) and is an element that I love. Likewise there is a simillar "power" in the whole bass range up to the top. And let's get something straight here. This bass is not absolutely flat-neutral. There is a general emphasis of a few db in the bass throughout its range. But firstly,it is not excessive, secondly it is not the usual bloat that we usually hear in lower class headphones and thirdly the emphasis is linear throughout the range down to the very low frequencies .In other words it doesnt have that horrible usual element where there is a mid-bass bloat and non-existent sub-bass at the same time .Technically it reaches very low, has solid speed and lets you follow the indvidual bass notes. I love the sub-bass as it is. What I would change if possible is that I would like a few db less in the bass frequencies over the 80hz. As it is at the moment (and always talking about the reference filter) the bass is perfect for electronic music, pop, trance etc and generally for anyone who wants a good dose of enthusiasm and fun.On the other hand, if you are listening to the recordings with a highly critical-analytical mind (especially listening to natural bass organs where neutrality is very important) then the extra enthusiasm might not suit your taste. This bass is not made for 100% purists.

Μids 7/10

"Crisp+Detailed-Slight Lack of Βody and Liquidity"

Maybe nothing else needs to be stated. The title says it all. The mids are clear and sufficiently detailed. However, on one hand, there is as light bassy hue in male voices while on the other hand there is a slight recession to the mids exactly after the upper bass(the upper bass which causes the bassy hue).It is a general decline with perhaps the whole range from 400 Hz to 1khz being a few db lower in relation to the bass and treble. The result is capable mids that simply do not have the liquidity and sweetness of a Sennheiser HD600/650 (yes yes I know it is an unfair apples to oranges comparison but the HD6x0 is a point of reference in the mids for me). So if you are looking for a midcentric iem you will not find it here. The mids are satisfactory but they get slightly obscured by the treble and bass.

Treble 7/10

"Highly energetic"

The treble has a similar character to the bass being enthusiastic and energetic. The good thing is that this intensity isn't accompanied by highly annoying peaks. The treble has this crunch to satisfy the trebleheads and will generally give enthusiasm fortunately without harashing your eardrums .Yes this energy and enthusiasm may come to be slighly harsh and tiring in long-hour listening but poses no significant problems to tonality.Detail and extension are of decent level.

Neutrality/Balance 7/10

"Reference is fun"

You've probably noticed that I have already used the words "enthusiastic" and "fun" several times already and these are exacty the terms I would use to describe the sound signature. From the point you put these on they immediately demand your attention. Rise up start dancing to the music. Forget about the lethargic afternoons with the chamomile tea on hand. Grab a drink it is time to enter the zone. The signature is slightly v-shaped without exaggerating beyond what the majority deems acceptable and tries to stimulate you and entertain. If you are looking for a laid-back character for endless hours of relaxed listenig or for a monitor flat sound you will not find it here. Reference is fun.

All this about the Reference filter. What about the other two?The treble filter reduces the bass closer to flat levels but at the same time, as the name suggests, it increases the treble energy.Something that I personally find unnecessary and do not prefer. The bass filter is what it says...adds a few more db in bass (mainly mid-bass) without again reaching to"dirty levels" and somewhat calms down the treble. My personal preference is the reference filter but it is nice indeed to have 3 somewhat identical but at the same time different iems to use for different genres of music.

Sibilance/Smoothness 14,5/20

"You can't headbang for ever"

There is a lack of an significant sibilance and large peaks which is very important particularly since the treble already does have some extra energy.

Personally I would like a little fuller mids because I find myself reaching up to raise the volume to compensate and that leads to a little loss of smoothness with the treble and bass being increased respectively. This is tiring in long-term listening and to certain types of music (especially in bad recordings where this iem doens't forgive)giving the feeling of a slight lack of refinement and naturality. Well if the T20s had everything right they would not be at this price point...Actually forget that. They wouldn't exist because no headphone is perfect

Soundstage 6,5/10

"Precise Imaging, Ok stage"

The soundstage size is above average . It will not disappoint nor will it stand out. Of course, there are not a lot of iems that stand out int his area, but that is another matter. Ιmaging and separation of instruments are clearly good.

Detail 7,5/10

"Sufficiently Detailed"

The result is detailed enough to produce sufficient detail in every frequency of the audible range. I do not think that anyone will buy this iem especially for its detail retrieval but no no one will find it lacking either.Especially for the price point.

Conclusion 108/140

The RHA T20i score a very good 77,1% based on the complete package they offer. Having as strongest point, that pushes them up, their excellent metal construction (anything else can be subjective but metal is metal) and also the 3 years of warranty, the value adding variety of accessories/features and the enthusiastic/capable sound I do not think that there are many things that can disappoint the listener .Well there are some specific points. Like the choice of sound signature. If you want either a laid-back or a 100% true to the recording sound (being a purist or a music creator) I think that the T20 may not be your cup of tea. But the majority of people in this hobby are looking for a headphone with character and wow factor. And with stunning build and looks and enthusiastic sound this is what the T20i offers. RHA gives me the impression that as a young player in the market goes straight "all in" and gives you a complete package that is trying to impress you in any way possible. Maybe they try too much to impress with the slight v-shape sound signature and could use sooome refinement but for sure their efforts are impressive. I like that.

Recommended

Performance Index: 77.1%

Pros:Build quality, fun factor, accessories, 3 years warranty, great bass extension

Cons:Not neutral, no detachable cable, finding the perfect fit can be finicky

The best:Τhe full package!

Αndthe ugliest: The v-shape. The bass filter contains a larger piece of foam and as probably guessed the treble filter does not contain any foam at all. (more on the build quality) Total: If you ignore the non-detachable cable then the provided 10 couples of eartips of any size and type, the microphone and volume-play controls, the tuning filters, the pouch make you think. What else can we ask for? And by the way I saw that Rha also offers similar accessories in their cheaper headphones. Build Quality 18/20 "(ieM)an Of Steel!" Stainless steel everywhere! Fit/Comfort/Isolation 24/30 "Satisfying fit once you find what suits you..." Τhe T20s are worn over ther ear and the cable goes behind your outter ear to support the iem's weight. Amping and Matching "T20i+(i)Phone=Love" Being an iem it is only logical that the T20 does not to require any serious amping. In relation to my usual rig [micro idsd (dac)->itube (buffer)->Schiit Jotunheim(Amp) I preferred the T20 with the plain micro straight out of its own amplifier.(used as DAC/amp) As far as matching is concerned I would personally prefer daps and dac/amps with neutral, smooth sound with a very slight mid emphasis. Sound Intro Reid Heath Audio (RHA) is a British company based in Scotland. Bass 8/10 "Bombastic" The bass signature is one of the main characteristics of the T20. Μids 7/10 "Crisp+Detailed-Slight Lack of Βody and Liquidity" Maybe nothing else needs to be stated. Treble 7/10 "Highly energetic" The treble has a similar character to the bass being enthusiastic and energetic. Neutrality/Balance 7/10 "Reference is fun" You've probably noticed that I have already used the words "enthusiastic" and "fun" several times already and these are exacty the terms I would use to describe the sound signature. Sibilance/Smoothness 14,5/20 "You can't headbang for ever" There is a lack of an significant sibilance and large peaks which is very important particularly since the treble already does have some extra energy. They wouldn't exist because no headphone is perfect Soundstage 6,5/10 "Precise Imaging, Ok stage" The soundstage size is above average . It will not disappoint nor will it stand out. Of course, there are not a lot of iems that stand out int his area, but that is another matter. Ιmaging and separation of instruments are clearly good. Detail 7,5/10 "Sufficiently Detailed" The result is detailed enough to produce sufficient detail in every frequency of the audible range. I do not think that anyone will buy this iem especially for its detail retrieval but no no one will find it lacking either.Especially for the price point. Conclusion 108/140 The RHA T20i score a very good 77,1% based on the complete package they offer. Recommended Performance Index: 77.1% Pros:Build quality, fun factor, accessories, 3 years warranty, great bass extension Cons:Not neutral, no detachable cable, finding the perfect fit can be finicky The best:Τhe full package! Αndthe ugliest: The v-shape.
