Davinci Resolve Updates

Today we announced DaVinci Resolve 18.1.1 update which includes all the features of DaVinci Resolve 18.1 plus adds support for Blackmagic RAW 2.8 clips.

This release also includes a number of small improvements including a new preferences option for Windows so you can manually override display scaling. It also restores a number of hotkey shortcuts including switching between primaries and log wheels or enabling playhead shadows. For DaVinci Resolve Studio users, there are improvements to AI based voice isolation that makes it easier to work with shorter audio clips.

Today we released DaVinci Resolve 18.1.3 update which adds support for DNx Uncompressed and Sony Venice 2 file formats.

This update also adds the ability to use the color picker for the glow, soft glow, and highlight tools in Fusion, making it easier for you to create a custom color from an existing image when applying these effects.

In addition, there’s improved playback performance when Text+ font opacity is set to zero, so you can work faster when creating titles for your project. Plus, when working with multiple monitors set to different resolutions, audio effect dialogs will now display with the correct scaling, making it clearer and easier to adjust your effects.

Today we announced DaVinci Resolve 18.1.4 update which improves the speed at which timelines with a large number of markers will load. You can now also cancel the ‘grab all stills’ process on the color page. This means that if you notice a clip needs to be altered after you’ve started to run the tool, you can quickly cancel the process, make the change and return to grabbing a still from every clip on the timeline.

When using the proxy generator, you will now be able to retain the creation date from the original camera file. The sync bin view now also uses the creation date and if the date was set incorrectly on the camera it can now be manually updated in the media page.

In addition, duration markers created from in-out ranges now use the last set color as default and there is also improved audio performance when scrubbing in the sync bin as well as better Resolve FX dehaze plugin performance when using DaVinci Wide Gamut. This update also adds support for decoding ARRI RAW clips from black and white cameras directly into monochrome mode using DaVinci Resolve.

Today we announced DaVinci Resolve 18.5, a massive update with new AI tools and over 150 new features which include major additions to the cut page editing toolset, new Resolve FX, enhanced Fusion tools including USD support and powerful new Fairlight audio mix automation. The Cut page features 3 new menus including tools to toggle ripple editing, resync audio and more! You can quickly generate captions for timelines with auto speech to text, or search on key words for faster editing. Resolve FX relight lets colorists add virtual lighting to a scene and VFX collaboration is now faster with support for Universal Scene Descriptor files. Today we released public beta 3 of DaVinci Resolve 18.5 which adds additional improvements to the DaVinci public beta including improved padding for subtitle backgrounds, as well as multiple improvements to Fusion’s multimerge tools. This includes improved display of large multi layer inputs and the ability to show the input names, making it easier to see and manage all of the inputs to the multimerge node. Additionally, multimerge nodes can now animate the layer state so you can turn effects on or off with keyframe control. You also have the ability to multi select and delete layers from the multimerge inspector. Universal Scene Descriptor, FBX and Alembic assets can now be relinked, replaced and revealed in the media pool and included in project archives making them easier to manage in DaVinci Resolve.

DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.5 public beta 3 also adds support for the new Blackmagic RAW SDK 3.1 and support for all Blackmagic camera color spaces in Fusion.

DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.5 beta 3 also adds a number of improvements to beta 2 release features for text based editing. These include automatic language detection, and expansion of language transcription to include 14 additional languages such as Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish and auto subtitling. Public beta 3 also adds support for editing and deletion of generated text, support for silent segment detection and display, with the ability to remove silent segments from transcribed text, plus the ability for words and paragraphs to be highlighted and deleted. Searching for specific content via text based editing saves hours of searching through video content looking for a single shot.

There are also a number of bug fixes and scripting API improvements as well as general performance and stability improvements.

Today we released public beta 4 of DaVinci Resolve 18.5 which adds additional improvements to the DaVinci public beta including greater control over subtitle export. This means only the subtitles you have turned on will now be included in the render and display on the export. Plus, there’s now greater system stability when displaying clip handles in the color page, making your grading process smoother.

This software update also adds a number of scripting API improvements for track and timeline management. This means that you will be able write scripts to automate commonly used functions for placing and replacing visual effects on the DaVinci Resolve timeline, speeding up your post production process and reducing your error count.

For DaVinci Resolve Studio, this beta release also includes support for transcribing traditional as well as simplified Mandarin. In addition, there is improved vertical video resolution when remote monitoring, giving you high quality vision when securely streaming your footage to an offsite director or client.

There is also support for Blackmagic RAW 3.2, as well as a number of bug fixes and general performance and stability improvements.
