Surface 3 with 4G LTE launches for business tomorrow, everyone else in coming weeks

The company announced that the Surface 3 with 4G LTE will launch for businesses in Germany and the UK tomorrow with subsequent launches in France and Spain. The 4G LTE enabled tablet has been available in Japan for two weeks through Y!Mobile.
Microsoft will then roll out the new device to retailers and commercial sellers in France, Germany, the UK, and the US in the coming weeks.

Microsoft’s Surface tablets have had a mixed reception over the last few years, though its latest model, the Surface Pro 3 has gotten pretty great reviews across the board. Unfortunately, both the tablet and its accessories can be hard to purchase due to limited distribution.
But Microsoft has just announced that it’s fixing that by allowing thousands of new resellers and partners to distribute the Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3, as well other upcoming devices – good news for those waiting on the Surface Pro 4.
According to the company, the number of Surface distributors will get a significant bump going from “a couple hundred” to “a few thousands” authorized resellers.

Microsoft Surface was considered a flop after the first version of it failed in the market. Even after billion dollar write-off, Microsoft continued to pursue their goal with Surface business. Today, they reported their Q4 FY15 results and Surface revenue increased 117% to $888 million, driven by Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 units sold. Yes, it is nearly a $3 billion dollar business for Microsoft and it is profitable too. Gross margin increased $417 million, and benefitted from the mix shift to Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3.

A long-time MacBook user, what I didn't expect to happen was Windows 10 pushing the MacBook aside.
I now use the Surface 3 every day, and while I haven't retired the iPad or the MacBook Air I find I don't miss them when using Microsoft's device. I've given a lot of thought as to why that is, and it comes down to the versatility of Windows 10.

Δεν τα εχω περάσει σε μόνιμη βάση αλλα ενα 10ημερο που τα είχα ως dual boot δεν παρατήρησα τέτοιο θέμα με την δικιά μου συνήθη χρήση.
Για καλύτερα αποτελέσματα προτιμότερο να κανεις καθαρή εγκατάσταση μέσα απο update and recovery menu και επιλέγοντας remove everything and reinstall Windows και θα ειναι σαν να έκανες clean install.
Επίσης στο εξωτερικό αναφερθηκε ότι η MS ανέβασε σε ISO και την 10αρα έκδοση για τα Surface,δεν το εχω ελέγξει προσωπικά για να σου πω με σιγουριά.
Δες το εσυ αν θες να τα περάσεις και ετσι τα Windows.
Η αλλιώς κατεβάζεις το official ISO των 10 και κανεις εγκατάσταση.

Ένω είχα απενεργοποιήσει το upgrade ξεθαβοντας τις ρυθμίσεις, φαίνεται κάποιο update μπήκε και άρχισε η αυτόματη εγκατάσταση... Ευτυχώς οι περισσότερες εφαρμογές εξακολουθούν να λειτουργούν κανονικά και στα 10, απλά ήθελε περίοδο προσαρμογής αφού σε αρκετά πράγματα δίνουν λιγότερες δυνατότητες παραμετροποίησης.
Φυσικά μέτα έκανα και ένα disk cleanup και αδειασαν 25GB του windows old folder.

“SkyWest, Inc. is deploying Surface 3 to replace heavy paper-based flight kits containing navigational charts, and aircraft operating and reference manuals. SkyWest, Inc. committed to standardizing their Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) for ExpressJet and SkyWest pilots on Surface 3. At only 1.3lbs, Surface 3 can distill a heavy flight bag into a portable, powerful device while offering simplified management and security via Intune.”
Microsoft also revealed that the Surface 3 is now pre-qualified for FAA authorization:
“Surface is committed to the commercial aviation industry and we are continuing efforts to make it easier for commercial airlines to adopt Surface tablets. We’re happy to announce today that Surface 3 has been pre-qualified for airlines to seek authorization from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for use as an EFB during all phases of flight. Through a rigorous evaluation process, Surface 3 has completed environmental and situational testing. Now, when airlines look to select the feature-rich Surface 3 for their EFB initiatives, deployment timelines will be significantly decreased, and the device itself may be used to its full computing potential, versus serving just as a simple document reader.”
