XpanD 103 3D glasses
Just received the Xpand 103 3D glasses and compared them with the SG-2100 and SG-2200 Samsung glasses.
Depth: no difference
Crosstalk: Monsters vs aliens 56:06 Susan walks/looks towards the gas station around her head some crosstalk with the SG2100 / SG200 glasses. With the XpanD 103, virtually none ! (viewpoint "-1")
Whether this is because of the color shift or because of faster shutter frames I don't know, it could be either. We will have to compare other scenes. Willing to do this, within reason..
Color: Xpand are almost perfect, SG2100 and SG2200 show approx. 30% reduction in color
Brightness: Xpand are slightly brighter
Reception: Xpand do not lose reception, even standing very close or on angle. Second best with a large gap are the SG2100, perhaps the battery is somewhat better compared to the recharchable one on the SG2200, with, ends third with noticable more picky reception compared to the SG2100.
Comfort: Xpand definite first, SG2200 second, SG2100 third
View: Xpand first with largest glasses, SG2200 second, SG2100 third
Reflection from the back into the glasses: SG2200 has the least reflection, Xpand (larger glasses) and SG2100 (open bottom frame) both suffer about equally. This is a minor point though.
The Xpand is the definite winner, with most striking difference the almost perfect color reproduction compared to the SG2200 and SG2100 which appear to let mostly blue colors pass yielding a blueish colorles picture compared to the Xpand.
The xpand glasses are a big improvement in the 3D expierence.
By the way, I have no connections whatsoever financially or otherwise with Samsung, Xpand or other 3D manufacturers...

My review additions to B71 on a Sony LCD 3D TV
Sony must make pretty good glasses because I didn't notice much of a difference in viewing quality between my Sony glasses and the XpanD glasses. Both the Sony and the XpanD scored equally on the crosstalk test and displayed the same brightness and color quality.
The advantage that I give the XpanD is:
(1) they feel a bit lighter than the Sony
(2) I can tilt my head much more with them before losing degradation in the picture. That was pretty nice because you don't have much range in motion with the Sony glasses.
(3) they are universal so I can use them on any other (non dlp) tv sets.
The ONLY disadvantage is that the Sony glasses do a better job of blocking out surrounding light. The Sony glasses have almost no reflection. The XpanD, due to their size, suffer from reflection. If you have any light source around you, you can see reflection on the lenses coming back at you. Not a big deal if you have a theatre room or you watch all your 3d content in a near dark environment.
Summary: I don't regret the purchase even though they are not an improvement over my Sony glasses when it comes to picture quality or crosstalk. However I do like the fact that I can cock my head with the XpanD and not lose color like I do with the Sony. If I am watching content in the dark I will definitely select the XpanD over the Sony due to that. However if my wife is not watching with me and has additional light sources on, I will go with the sony glasses due to the reflection issue.
