Fourteen cartons containing compact discs, DVDs and LPs are now on their way to Austria. The cartons have been wrapped and will be placed in a shipping container this month. They will then be loaded on a ship bound for the Netherlands. From there, they will be transported by truck to Vienna.
The final tally of the donation to the Media Library was slightly more than 1,400 recordings with an estimated value of $22,000.00. This was preceded by a hard drive transfer of thousands of digitized recordings with a value that is hard to estimate. Shipping costs added an additional $3,000.00, but that expense was covered by donations from the Austrian National Media Library and the Bruckner Society of America. The last part of the shipping expense was covered by donations from readers to this website and the sale of duplicate recordings culled from the archive. I am looking forward to the shipment's arrival in Vienna.
