Τι έμεινε;Μέσα σε ένα μουσικά εξωστρεφές, θα το έλεγα κομψά, κλίμα, με τα συνθεσάιζερ να κάνουν την εμφάνισή τους, μια παραγωγή οτι πρέπει για να πουλήσει τα εκατομμύρια αντίτυπα που (πράγματι) πούλησε, ένας δίσκος άνισος. Ήρθε να μπερδέψει όλους εμάς τους παλιούς του φίλους  και τελικά να δώσει με το ζόρι τέσσερα κομμάτια ανάμεσα  σε δώδεκα, κι αυτά με μικροενστάσεις. Εφτά (!) hit single έβγαλε ο δίσκος και πούλησε 16 εκατομμύρια αντίτυπα μόνο στην Αμερική. Έμελε να είναι βέβαια το εμπορικό του ζενίθ, αλλά κατ´εμέ, το καλλιτεχνικό του ναδίρ, γιατί ενώ υπήρχαν πάντοτε και λιγότερο ενδιαφέροντα κομμάτια στις προηγούμενες δουλειές του,  αδιάφορα όμως ΠΟΤΕ.  Και να τώρα..Τα διασωθέντα:My Hometown μια κριτική ματιά στον Ρηγκανισμό και τις συνέπειες του στη ζωή της εργατικής τάξηςDownbound train, παρόμοιας θεματολογίαςΝo surrender.  Αυτοβιογραφικό. Η μουσική, η φιλία, η πίστη στις αρχές, δοσμένα μέσα απο την κοινή πορεία τους (και μέσα στο γκρούπ) με τον Steve Van Zandt, συνοδοιπόρο απο τα γυμνασιακά του χρόνια και περιστασιακά  μέλος των E Street Band. Μια κατάθεση νεανικής ψυχής. Απο τα πιό αγαπημένα μου κομμάτια (και εκείνου κατά δήλωσή του). Η upbeat εκδοχή του εδώ δίνει ένα πιό αισιόδοξο τόνο, ένα «είμαστε ακόμα ζωντανοί, στη σκηνή...»Η ακουστική version στο Live 1975/85 αντίθετα δίνει ένα περισσότερο νοσταλγικό, σαν όλα πια να έχουν τελειώσει... Αν οι στίχοι περιείχαν κρυμμένα μηνύματα ή επιδεχόντουσαν, ως διφορούμενοι, πολλαπλές ερμηνείες θα μπορούσα  να το καταλάβω. Ποιοί όμως και πόσοι, μπαίνουν στον κόπο να ακούσουν σε αυτό το κομμάτι τους στίχους. Εκείνο που ακούνε όμως και μάλιστα επαναλαμβανόμενο αρκετές φορές είναι το ρεφραίν και επειδή υπάρχει και μια σχετική.. αλλεργία σε πολύ κόσμο, με κάποιες λέξεις, δημιουργήθηκε Η παρεξήγηση.. Η μουσική πομπώδης και επική, είναι περισσότερο ένα εμβατήριο απο την ανάποδη, μια πληρωμή με το ίδιο νόμισα στα ταρατατζούμ των παρελάσεων, παρά οτιδήποτε άλλο.Ένα αντίστοιχο απο τα καθ’ημάς, θα μπορούσε να είναι ας πούμε το «Αχ Ελλάδα σ’αγαπώ» του ΡασούληΑχ Ελλάδα θα στο πωπριν λαλήσεις πετεινόδεκατρείς φορές μ' αρνιέσαιμ' εκβιάζεις μου κολλάςσαν το νόθο με πετάςμα κι απάνω μου κρεμιέσαιΔύο σχόλια ακόμη απο τα αρχεία του διαδικτύουSpringsteen refused Chrysler Corporation CEO Lee Iacocca's request to use "Born in the U.S.A." in commercials for Chrysler cars, turning down an offer that would have been worth several million dollars.........Nevertheless, on September 19, 1984, at a campaign stop in Hammonton, New Jersey, Reagan added the following to his usual stump speech:"America's future rests in a thousand dreams inside your hearts; it rests in the message of hope in songs so many young Americans admire: New Jersey's own Bruce Springsteen. And helping you make those dreams come true is what this job of mine is all about." .......During a September 22 concert in Pittsburgh, Springsteen responded negatively by introducing his song "Johnny 99", a song about an unemployed auto worker who turns to murder, "The President was mentioning my name the other day, and I kinda got to wondering what his favorite album musta been.
