It is unfortunate that today I must share some very sad news. Mr J.C.Verdier has passed away.
Mr Jean Verdier was born in 1938. He started to manufacture turntables in 1963 with the well known french company ERA.
In 1972 he created his own company with the brand name "J.C.Verdier".
By the end of the seventies he invented a new concept of top quality turntable using repulsive magnets. The "Platine verdier" was born.
35 years later, the "Platine Verdier" is still manufactured with a very few changes. More than 2000 of it are in use all other the world.
During the eighties he started with tube amplifiers, responding to a new demand of the HiFi market.
Mr Jean Verdier was officially retired from active work for some years and he organised the future for the company a long time ago.
His wife personally takes care of all the commercial matters since the beginning of the company in 1972 and their son Eric Verdier has been managing the technical aspects for over 5 years.
Their loyal staff have remained unchanged for a very long time. It means that "J.C.Verdier" will continue and that nothing will change in the future regarding the quality and "philosophy" of the products. The long term future of the brand is secure.
I for one will be playing some records on my 'Platine' and I would ask if you have the time to play a track or two on whichever turntable you own in memory of this wonderful pioneer in the world of analogue reproduction.
Best regards,
Jack Durant
