Panasonic has gone even further: its new panels integrate the "light modulated cell" that function as barriers for additional light, always composed of liquid crystal and synchronized with the main panel pixels. These cells, realized with a different type of crystal, are able to modulate the light with precision bringing the pixels from a situation of zero light at a maximum light situation: Panasonic then promises a pixel by pixel emission control with the possibility to isolate the issue of individual points as happens today with a self emitting TV.

A design reminiscent in some respects some experiments made by Hitachi, with an LCD panel in black and white place behind a Color panel to make a local dimming total: ten years after Panasonic has succeeded, and if it works it really is a revolutionary solution. The IPS panels produced in this way in addition to being able to show totally black images, no spurious or even halos, can reach high peak brightness over 1000 nits, a characteristic that would also make them the best HDR monitor the market for dynamic and extension.

The good news does not stop there: Panasonic declares that the technology can be adapted smoothly to the current production lines and is already able to produce panels from 10 "to 100" with this technology in its plants 8.5G: the samples for those will test the goodness of the new solution will be ready for shipment in January.

Η Panasonic αντί για τοπικό έλεγχο φωτισμού, αποφάσισε να πειραματιστεί με διπλό έλεγχο σε επίπεδο pixel, τοποθετώντας δύο πάνελ IPS σε μορφή σάντουιτς: το τελικό δοκίμιο έχει υποτιθέμενη αντίθεση 1.000.000:1 (1000:1 x 1000:1 από κάθε φωτοφράκτη).

Θεωρητικά, δεν υπάρχει κάποιος λόγος που να αντικρούει τους ισχυρισμούς περί αντίθεσης, τα 1000 nits φωτεινότητας και η καλή γωνία θέασης όμως, τα βλέπω να ανήκουν στη σφαίρα της φαντασίας... :silly:
