The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is a knockout 12-inch Windows 10 tablet with a vibrant screen, but it's in dire need of a stronger keyboard base.

We liked

There's no overstating how incredibly thin this 12-inch tablet is. You could easily mistake it for an Android tablet if it weren't for Microsoft's OS running on the device.

Samsung has taken its years of experience developing slates to make a nigh-pristine Windows device with a vibrant screen, punchy speakers, market-rate battery life and reliable performance.

We disliked

There's nothing wrong with the TabPro S alone, but the keyboard base it comes bundled with ends up dragging down the experience of using this 12-inch tablet. It's simply too wobbly, and a trackpad that's a smidge larger would be welcome.

In this case, Samsung's experience in building Android tablets is a double-edged sword. While Samsung brought its winning tablet design to Windows and a keyboard cover that would be fine for its stellar Android slates, this one is simply not suitable for a laptop replacement.

Final verdict

The Samsung TabPro S has left me smitten. It is, hands down, the best Windows 10 tablet for watching video and reading online. This should come as no surprise considering the company's rich history of Android devices.

That said, the keyboard case is a major let down. It's works well when you grab it out of your bag and set it on a table, but it's almost too unstable to safely use on your lap. Plus, you'll need a place to throw the keyboard accessory whenever you want to use the TabPro S as a straight tablet.

As it stands – or attempts to – the TabPro S only works perfectly if you use it in the exact way Samsung has envisioned. But, damn, is this one slick Windows 10 tablet.

Summary
The Galaxy TabPro S is the latest Surface Pro competitor: a tablet with a click-in keyboard that's powerful enough to potentially replace a laptop. As a first-generation product, it excels in tablet mode, offering both a thin design and long battery life -- a rare combination. But the keyboard needs work: It's cramped layout makes typos inevitable. Perhaps Samsung could retool the keyboard, but keep the same magnetic connector, making it easy for early adopters to upgrade.

Πολυ ωραια συσκευη. Θα πω και αλλο ενα αρνητικό (για εμενα). Εφοσον ειναι τόσο ελαφρύ και δε θα εχει προβλημα πιασιματος, θα μπορουσαν να αντικαταστησουν τα bezels με μεγαλύτερη οθονη.

Verdict

The AMOLED screen on the Galaxy TabPro S is the key feature here. It's bright and punchy and if you're careful you can get impressive efficiency from it. Style plays a big role too.

Nothing really disappoints us with the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S - they've done a great job putting together a well-rounded tablet/keyboard case package. Compared to laptops costing the same price you're getting less performance but a great deal of portability. The keyboard isn't quite best in class and it needs a backlight to be able to compete with the likes of the Surface Pro 4 and the Type Cover keyboard but it's not bad. The keyboard case / stand has advantages and disadvantages. You're protecting the tablet when in transit and getting a basic stand but it's not got the angle flexibility of the Miix 700, Surface Pro 4 or Spectre X2. Finally, we weren't able to test the Samsung Bluetooth C-Pen Stylus as it's not available yet. That could be the deciding factor for some people.

Don't ignore the fact that there's only a single charge/data port on this tablet. You'll need to budget for adapters which could get expensive if you're looking for a portable docking solution with video output and charging.
If you've been looking at a Surface 3 with 4GB RAM and 128 GB SSD you might want to consider the jump to this more capable tablet. For those considering the Surface Pro 4 with Core m3 but without a stylus then again the TabPro S could be the one. The TabPro S is also more stylish than the Lenovo Miix 700 but the Miix beats the Samsung on processing power and keyboard quality. Don't forget the HP Spectre X2 or the Toshiba Portégé Z20t-B-10C

The detachable tablet sector is growing quickly and there are some great options in the space. Look out for changing prices and don't forget to read through all of our reviews.

Καλή η προσπάθεια στην πρώτη υλοποίηση αλλα ο ανταγωνισμός ειναι πολυ ισχυρός και επιβάλλεται να δώσει το αρκετό παραπάνω για να τύχει μεγαλύτερης προσοχής απο το καταναλωτικό κοινό.

Μια σύντομη κατάθεση τι θα έπρεπε να συμπεριλάβει στην νεα πρόταση της να γίνει πολυ πιο ανταγωνιστική.

Ο καθένας τα βάζει κατω και σταθμίσει τα θετικά και αρνητικά είτε της μιας είτε της άλλης πρότασης.

Και τα 2 εχουν το κοινό τους σε κάθε περίπτωση και προφανώς απευθύνονται σε διαφορετικη κατηγορία χρηστων με διαφορετικές αναγκες.

κάτι τέτοιο για κανονική χρήση λαπτοπ δε θα παλεύεται...


η νέα γενιά core m πάντως λογικά θα έχει αξιοπρεπέστατες επιδόσεις για καθημερινή χρήση

ήδη τα τελευταία ultrabooks με τους καλούς core m σαν τον m5-6y54 έχουν επιδόσεις κοντά στα λαπτοπς του 500ρικου που πουλιούνται σωρηδόν αυτή τη στιγμή με core i3-4XXX

Όλα ειναι θεμα τι χρήση θα γίνεται και ποιες ανάγκες θα καλυφθούν.
Σίγουρα ενα λαπτοπ του 500ευρω i3 CPU εχει παρόμοιες η λίγο καλύτερες επιδόσεις αλλα παίζουν πολλα ρόλο.

Πχ στα laptop του 500ευρω η ποιοτητα της οθόνης ειναι αστεία μπροστά στην παρόν συσκευη.

Επίσης σίγουρα θα υπολείπεται αρκετα σε αυτονομία και θα ειναι πολυ λιγότερο φορητό και ελαφρύ θα αναπτύσσει παραπάνω θερμοκρασίες και θα βγάζει συνεχώς θόρυβο με λίγο ζορισμα.

Απο την άλλη αν θες παραπάνω θύρες επέκτασης και δυνατότητα σε αναβάθμιση πχ σκληρό η μνημη η αλλαγή μπαταρίας τότε το laptop προτιμότερο.

Οπως είπαμε ο καθένας τα σταθμίζει και αποφασίζει.

δε διαφωνώ, απλά επισημαίνω ότι αυτές οι συσκευές εξακολουθούν να μην κάνουν για κάποιον που θέλει χρήση λαπτοπ

είναι για βασική χρήση ταμπλετ και λίγο από λαπτοπ και όχι το ανάποδο.....

και το βασικό πρόβλημα δεν είναι οι επιδόσεις (οι οποίες πλέουν πλησιάζουν τα φθηνά notebooks του "500αρικου") αλλά η εργονομία τους

Εγώ θα έλεγα το αντίθετο και σίγουρα όσοι τα αγοράζουν τα χρησιμοποιούν ως λαπτοπ πολυ περισσότερο παρα ως tablet(το δεύτερο σκέλος ειναι απλα ενα + επιπλέον για μια περιστασιακή χρήση η για όσους κάνουν εργασία πχ με χρήση γραφίδας)

12-13 ίντσες συσκευη ο Θεος να το κάνει tablet απλα επειδή εχουν υιοθετήσει tablet form factor.

Το μέγεθος και το βάρος τους δεν το επιτρέπουν να το κατατάξουμε ως tablet κατανάλωση περιεχομένου συσκευη.

Απο την άλλη τα Windows δεν θα τα χαρακτηρίζα ιδιαιτερα φιλικό σε χρήση ως tablet λόγω UI και έλλειψη εφαρμογών αν και στο δεύτερο σκέλος εχουν βελτιωθεί τελευταία.

Όσον αφορα εργονομία οι άριστες υλοποιήσεις στο πληκτρολόγιο των κορυφαίων προτάσεων η απόσταση ειναι μικρή απο παραδοσιακό λαπτοπ πλεον και αυτο μόνο απο τα κορυφαία λαπτοπ που εχουν κορυφαία πληκτρολόγιο.

Τώρα αν κάποιος θέλει να γράφει η δουλεύει στο πόδι τις περισσότερες φορές σίγουρα ενα ultra portable laptop (ultrabook) βολεύει περισσότερο και εμπνέει μεγαλύτερη εμπιστοσύνη και σιγουριά.

Αλλα οι περισσότεροι δουλεύουν σε σταθερη επιφάνειας εργασίας και εκει αποδίδουν σε υψηλό βαθμό.

Αναβάθμιση θα ειναι σίγουρα ειδικά οθόνη,αυτονομία και ενσωματωμένη GPU
Η HD 515 ειναι πολυ πιο δυνατή σαφώς απο την HD 3000.(και παιχνίδια μπορείς να παίξεις πολυ πιο άνετα θα ελεγα σε σχέση με το Acer)

Σε CPU μια η άλλη θα έλεγα.

Γενικά για τη χρήση που θέλεις θα σε καλύψει και με το παραπάνω θα έλεγα.

Υπολόγιζε γύρω στα 95 περίπου.
Ίσως και λίγο παραπάνω αν δεν έβαλε μπόλικα πράγματα η Samsung.
Περίπου 100gb στο αντίστοιχο m3 του surface pro 4 που θυμάμαι.

μάλιστα. Μακάρι να είχε ένα microSD slot να χώσεις μια 128άρα κάρτα, να μην μπλέκεις με εξωτερικά στικάκια.
