We saw the 110-inch Sony Crystal LED (formerly known as CLEDIS) at the company's Basingstoke office, and learnt a bit about their take on MicroLED self-emissive technology which is capable of delivering 1000 nits of peak brightness full-screen.

Various turnkey packages of the Sony Crystal LED Display can be ordered through AWE Europe, a UK distributor:

Από το 2027 θα αρχίσουμε να βλέπουμε μια κάποια αύξηση των πωλήσεων microled για οικιακή χρήση αφού τότε προβλέπεται να πέσουν σε πιο προσιτά επίπεδα οι τιμές τους.

...The player uses four HDMI outputs and Sony uses a converter that can convey the 8K stream 60 fps through a single HDMI cable.

Finally, this TV is the first to our knowledge to accept an 8K signal using a single HDMI cable unlike Sharp 8K LV-70X500E. As usual at Sony, you must first unblock the HDMI port in question, in this case the HDMI 4 port, in the Settings> Watch TV> External Inputs> HDMI Signal Format> Enhanced Format.
Sony used for the occasion an 8K player with four HDMI 2.0 outputs and a converter box that allows just to couple the flow of the four outputs and send back to the TV with a single HDMI cable supporting a high bandwidth. Sony is not yet talking HDMI 2.1 input, because the standard is not yet fully finalized, but Sony - with this demonstration - ensures that its TV will be compatible with 8K streams.

We review Sony's new BVM-HX310 professional mastering monitor, which is the replacement for the Japanese brand's now-discontinued X300 reference OLED monitor.
We found the Sony HX310 to be the first LCD display we've tested that can compete with OLED on picture quality, thanks to dual-layer LCD or light-modulating cell layer (LMCL) technology. List price is at least £30,000.

We understand that the Hisense U9 and the upcoming Apple Pro Display XDR 6K monitor will also be using dual-layer LCD technology, although not the exact same one found on the BVM-HX310.

Footages at 2:15 and 2:52 are blurry due to wide lens aperture used to capture dark detail.

Κάτι περίεργο συμβαίνει με τις μετρήσεις του πάντως...

25000:1 αντίθεση σε SDR και 125000:1 σε HDR; Γιατί αυτή η διαφορά και γιατί δεν του έκανε καμμιά εντύπωση;

... In fact, it is identical to last year's Sony KD-49XF9005, with the exception of the design of the feet. The Sony 49XG9005 is also the only Sony TV with the reference XG90 in 2019, the other diagonals are stamped XG9505 and ship the X1 Ultimate processor...

The matrix comes from LG Display and has the same sub-pixel structure as LG 55C9, LG 55E9, Sony 55AG9 or Panasonic 55GZ950.

Short commentary on the chart:

starts at around 667 cd / m ^ 2,
after approx. 50-55s reaches 700 cd / m ^ 2,
then slowly drops to approx. 440 cd / m ^ 2 and stabilizes for 20 seconds,
then again it grows to about 700 cd / m ^ 2 ...
... to finally fall to about 300 cd / m ^ 2.
the whole measurement lasted 5 minutes.

As you can see, 55AG8 offers lower brightness in HDR mode than rivals, especially LG. What is the reason? It is hard to say, but it seems to me that since we are dealing with the same latest generation OLED panel, it may be Sony engineers' desire to protect the panel from burning out.

Κάντε επαναφορά της τηλεόρασής σας
Απενεργοποιήστε την τηλεόραση.
Αποσυνδέστε το καλώδιο ρεύματος της τηλεόρασης (καλώδιο τροφοδοσίας) από την πρίζα.
Αφήστε την τηλεόραση χωρίς ρεύμα για 2 λεπτά.
Συνδέστε το καλώδιο ρεύματος (καλώδιο τροφοδοσίας) στην πρίζα.
