LG Display unveiled a next-generation white (W) OLED panel that increases brightness by about 25% by applying a 4-stack tandem panel structure and improved light-emitting materials and elements. The tandem structure is a technology that stacks light-emitting layers in multiple layers. It has advantages such as long life and high efficiency.

An LG Display official explained, “The existing WOLED panel stacks light-emitting layers in three layers (3-stack), but the newly introduced technology stacks one more stack and improves light-emitting elements and blue light-emitting materials.”

LG Electronics (LGE) will this year launch the M5, G5, C5 and B5 OLED ranges in 42 to 97 inches.
G5 is expected to be the brightest TV on the market, according to the company.

Starting with the flagships, M5 and G5 will feature an upgraded OLED panel from LG Display (LGD).
LG Electronics said that with 'Brightness Booster Ultimate' G5 and M5 are "3 times brighter than the B series" (in a 10% window) in 55, 65, 77 and 83 inches.

G5 will also be available in 48 inches for the first time, but lower brightness.
The 97-inch version will not reach the same brightness levels either, according to the company.

C5 remains non-MLA.

We review the LG G5 flagship OLED TV, featuring the latest 4-stack "Primary RGB Tandem OLED" panel from LG Display.
Our review sample is the 65-inch LG OLED65G5, but the LG G5 OLED is also available in 48", 55", 77", 83" and 97" screen sizes, although the smallest 48- and the largest 97-incher won't be using the 4-stack WOLED panel.

We measured BT.2020 coverage at 72% XY and 77% UV, with P3 coverage coming in at 97% XY and 99% UV.

No HDR10+/HDR10+ Adaptive or DTS support.

HDR Filmmaker Mode on the LG C5 adheres to the PQ EOTF ST.2084 standard, D65 white point, and the DCI-P3 colour gamut within Rec. 2020.
This is the best picture mode for watching HDR content as it was mastered and intended to be seen.

I measured a 1% window at 1098 nits, 2% at 1098 nits, 5% at 1096 and on an industry-standard 10% window, it measures 1075 nits with full 100% white at 180 nits on the C5.

The LG G5 passes through all Dolby Digital options. However, it doesn't support any DTS audio formats commonly used on physical media.
LG has supported DTS on all of their 2023 and 2024 OLED models, but they've dropped support across their entire lineup in 2025.
