Λογικα το Mint και για πιο light ακομα το Lubuntu στις τελευταιες εκδοσεις παντα ... Το mint ειναι και πιο user friendly και για κανονικη χρηση του netbook περα απο την χρηση που το προοριζεις.

Πολύ ενδιαφέροντα και τα δύο.
Όπως φαίνεται υπάρχει λαμπρό πεδίο δοκιμών.
Προσωπικά πάντως το παρον στήσιμο του λινουξακίου δεν θέλω να πειράξω καθόλου.
Και πστεύω πως δύσκολα θα πειστώ να το αλλάξω με κάτι άλλο.
Ποτέ μην λες ποτέ βέβαια...

Ο Jack όντος δεν είναι απαραίτητος αλλά βολεύει κόσμο, κα έχει και Players και mix consoles etc.
Άλλη σχολή είναι και ο mpd πάνω σε alsa.
Μόνο alasa και comandline prompt παίζει αλλά τελικά κάποιες ευκολίες μας χρειάζονται.

Ρε συ Domie... δοκίμασε κι' εσύ να το κάνεις με το Mac... μπορεί να σου βγεί!
Creating Linux Mint USB in Mac:
1. Insert Your Flash Drive
2. Open disk utility and format your USB drive ( fat32 , MBR partition )

3. Download Linux Mint 16 ISO
4. Download Mac Linux USB Loader application
5. Open "Mac Linux USB Loader" and click “Create Live USB” and direct the program to your Mint 16 ISO. Then the software will get to work:

How long this takes depends on the size of the ISO and the speed of your drive, but it shouldn’t take more than a few minutes on most modern Macs.
6. Now for the easy part: booting Linux from your drive. Just shut down your Mac, then turn it back on. When you hear the Mac “Chime”, press and hold the “Option/Alt” key.
You’ll be shown all the bootable drives on your Mac, including your USB stick (which will be yellow):

7. You should see the following screen:

After restarting you will see this screen:

In order to install Linux Mint 16, click on the Install Linux Mint button.
1. Select Language and click forward. English is the default language which you can easily change → forward

2. Preparing To Install Linux Mint → Forward
A window may pop-up warning you about a mounted partition. It is the same partition which is being used as the Live USB. So you can select No.
3. Allocate Drive Space: Select “Something Else” on this window → Forward.
4. You can see Free Space of your USB. If there is data on it, you can highlight the partition and click on Delete button which will erase all data and make free space for installation. Be careful and select the right partition. Select the free space and click Add
5. Create root for your portable Linux Mint
– Type for the new partition: Primary
– New Partition size in megabytes: Keep 1 GB for swap and enter the remaining space. In my case I have a 16GB so I gave 14GB to root.
– Location of the new partition: Beginning
– Use as: Ext4
– Mount Point: select / from drop down
→ Now click OK. It will scan the drive and create the root partition.
6. Create Swap for Linux Mint 11
Now we need to create a Swap partition. Select the free space and click on Add. A window will open.
– Type for the new partition: Logical
– New partition size in megabytes: You may give 1GB.
– Location for the new partition: Beginning
– Use as : select ‛swap area’ from the drop down menu.
– There is no option of mount point.
→ Click OK.
Now you can see the newly created root and swap partitions.
7. IMP: Now you can see “Device for boot loader installtion” at the bottom of the page. Select the USB drive from the drop down menu. Make sure it is the same USB Device which you noted from the Disk Utility. Select the root of the drive and not the one which is followed by a number. Example: select /sdx and not /sdx1. If you made any mistake at this stage you may wipe the stable partition on your PC.
8. Where are you. You will see a Map, you can select your location by either pin-pointing your position on the map or entering the region in the box below.
→ Forward
9. Keyboard Layout. If you are using non-American/English keyboard, you can select the language here. Once selected you can test if it is correct by typing in the box
→ Forward
10. Who are you?
In this window you have to enter your name. It will automatically create the computer name, which you can change if you want. It will also suggest a username which you can change in ‛Pick a username’ box. You will need this username to log into your system.
Next option is password. Create a good password and confirm it. If you want to skip the login window every time you restart your PC, you can select ‛Log in automatically.
You can leave the Encrypt my home folder unchecked. → Forward
11. Now there isn’t much for you to do. Linux Mint will start the installation process which will take couple of minutes. During the installation process you can enjoy the slideshow about the cool features of Linux Mint.
12. Once the installation is finished, click on the ‛Restart’ button to reboot the PC into your new system. Remove the CD/DVD or the LiveUSB before the PC starts otherwise it will boot into the Live Linux Mint again.

Κρατάτε και μια πισινή, γιατί σε εμένα ΔΕΝ δούλεψε.
Το τελευταίο - τελευταίο screen της επιτυχούς εγκατάστασης ΔΕΝ το έχω δεί...
Πάντα κολλάει ακριβώς λίγο πρίν η διαδικασία.
Δεν γνωρίζω μέχρι και σήμερα πού οφείλεται η αποτυχία.
ΥΓ. Η παραπάνω διαδικασία είναι κόψε-ράψε από 2 διαφορετικούς οδηγούς.
Αν σας βάλω του 1ου δρόμου... είναι όλο εντολές στο terminal και ζήσε Μάη να φάς τριφύλλι... χαχχα χαχαχαχα χαχα...
Αφού έβγαλα τα μάτια μου με τον 1ο δρόμο... ανακάλυψα και τον 2ο, τον πιο εύκολο... χαχαχα χα αχχαχαχα χαχαχα

Τελικά στα partitions,το πρώτο που φτιάχνουμε για να εγκατασταθεί το mint,πρέπει να είναι σε ext3 η σε ext4;

Αυτό βρήκα εγώ σε οδηγούς...
Αν τρεχετε windows και δεν εχετε θεματα με uefi και γενικοτερα μυστηρια μπορειτε να εγαταστησετε το Mint μαζι με τα windows σαν οποιαδηποτε αλλη εφαρμογη .Πρεπει ομως να κατεβασετε την εκδοση lts (maya) νομιζω λεγεται και αν θυμαμαι 13 κατεβαζοντας λοιπον το iso και με ενα προγραμμα που μπορει να δει iso σαν το 7zip κανουμε εξαγωγη του αρχειου mint4win.exe το τρεχουμε ακολουθουμε τις οδηγιες (απλες) και ειμαστε κομπλε .Αν το βαρεθουμε παμε προσθαφαιρεση προγραμματων και το απεγκαθιστουμε .

Έβαλα σήμερα να ακούσω λίγο μουσικούλα με (linux mint 16 cinnamon>Jack>Audicius>mambo dac) και είδα ότι το jack ''έτρεχε'' με πολλά errors απ' ότι μου έδειχνε στα messages View attachment 100017 και μου έκανε συχνές διακοπές ο ήχος,ειδικά αν άνοιγα κάποιον browser για λίγο σερφάρισμα,γενικά δεν δούλευε καλά.

Μήπως ταυτόχρονα έτρεχε καμιά αναβάθμιση ή κάτι βαρύ;
(Αυτός είναι και ο λόγος του fluxbox,το να μην υπάρχει αλληλεπίδραση με άλλα προγράμματα και διεργασίες....,στο κανονικό περιβάλλον αυτά είναι πιθανά.
Πιθανά είναι και κάποια λάθη,ειδικά αν ταυτόχρονα χρησιμοποιείς κάτι που χρειάζεται ήχο,you tube,πχ.)
Επανεκκίνηση κι όλα θα στρώσουν,πιστεύω.

Απορία για την δημιουργία εγκατάστασης σε USB stick.
Έστω λοιπόν ότι δημιουργούμε το DVD εγκατάστασης (ή το Live USB Linux), ξεκινάμε την εγκατάσταση και θέλουμε να το εγκαταστήσουμε σε Usb stick των 8GB (όπως προτάθηκε από πολλούς συνφορουμίτες).
Και φτάνουμε στο σημείο να ορίσουμε τα partitions.
Σε προηγούμενα ποστ διαβασα ότι τα partitions που δημιουργούμε είναι 7500ΜΒ για το λειτουργικό και 500ΜΒ για το swap, ή 7000+1000 αντίστοιχα. (έχω 4GB RAM αλλά θα φτιάξω swap για παν ενδεχόμενο).
Σύνολο δλδ 2 partitions.
Σε αυτό τον οδηγό όμως δίνει οδηγίες για 3 partitions (2+1swap).
Μήπως θα μπορούσατε να με διφωτίσετε λίγο πάνω σε αυτό; (πρώτη φορά επιχειρώ να ασχοληθώ με Linux και μου φαίνονται όλα κάπως κινέζικα!)
