Εκτος απο την ενσωματωμενη δυνατοτητα του ipad για home sharing μεσω itunes , που για καποιους ειναι πολυ περιοριστικο, υπαρχουν και μερικες πολυ καλες εφαρμογες για media streaming.

Πρωτα το πολυ γνωστο στους macαδες Plex

Ειναι στην ουσια ενας client για ipad (kai iphone-ipod touch) και το μεγαλο του πλεονεκτημα ειναι το ωραιο περιβαλλον , η ταχυτητα και το οτι υποστηριζει τα περισσοτερα φορματ βιντεο.
Μπορει να δει τη βιβλιοθηκη του itunes και του iphoto - aperture!!
Κανει δηλ. streaming και τις photo, πραγμα που δεν εχουμε με το Home Sharing της Apple:bigcry:

Εχει και πολλα Plugin για vimeo, trailers hd, news, κλπ.

Xρειαζεται φυσικα να τρεχει ο server (Mac ή PC)

Στην αρχη , οταν τρεξουμε τον server , πρεπει να του πουμε που να κοιταξει για τα media και θελει αρκετη ωρα για να σκαναρει τα δεδομενα και κυριως για να φερει πληροφοριες για τις ταινιες μας.

Μεσω Wifi b/g μπορεσα να δω 720p streaming χωρις προβληματα.

Eπειδη ομως το plex δεν υποστηριζει υποτιτλους στην client version , υπαρχει η πολυ καλη εναλλακτικη λυση , μονο για βιντεο, του Air Video

Νομιζω οτι ειναι καλυτερο στο τομεα του video απο το Plex.

Υπαρχει server προγραμμα για Mac kai PC.
