OLED EX (WBE) panel from LG Display
100/120Hz με MCFI+BFI
HDR:
In User preset picture mode on a 10% board, the maximum luminance at the beginning of the three-minute measurement was 588 cd / m² (nits), and after a few seconds it reached a level close to 700 cd / m² (nits).
As you can see, the organic panel has been controlled slightly differently than that of its rivals: Sony engineers try to avoid a large jump in current on pixelated transistors, so as not to damage the delicate and extremely thin organic emission layers.
Greater concern for the lifespan of the display than rivals can also be seen in the operation of the mechanism protecting the panel: it switches on slightly earlier than in rivals, which is visible on the graph in the form of a gentle drop in the third minute of the continuous test.
Despite the decline, the 55A75K achieved a higher luminance in the same test than last year's 55A80J, which peaked at 657 cd / m² (nits), while the 55A75K achieved a higher luminance of 724 cd / m² (nits).
I note that a luminance of 700 candelas is possible when the TV displays bright images on a fraction of the screen surface. When we display a white board on its entire surface, the luminance drops sharply – in the case of 55A75K to 158 cd / m² (nits) (which is still a better result than rivals, who often do not exceed 120 cd / m² (nits) (even with the EX matrix). Let me remind you that last year's 55A80J reached 129 cd / m² (nits), so 29 candelas less than 55A75K.
All this confirms the little-known truth that the same panel from the same manufacturer can be controlled completely differently: either trim its brightness, or take care of its life, or choose an intermediate solution.
It seems that Sony engineers have chosen this option, which in my opinion should bring the 55A75K many satisfied users.
