CALOR-Gold is my new fantastic 40W/8ohms class A output power amplifier. Amp has been designed to be comparable in all aspects with Pass and Hiraga class of amps, and preliminary results up to date are more than encouraging, even having on mind ?mighty? names that it is suppose to stand next to. Some of the measurements are showing almost full 40W average power without exiting class A, frequency BW over 350kHz, phase shift not more than 2,5 degree from 20Hz to slightly over 20kHz. More extensive measurements are yet to bee done and results will show up here as soon as they are available. First listening impressions are exceptional in spite of the fact that the rest of the setup was not entirely up to a task and under the quality class of CALOR.
One of significant comparative advantages of this amp is perfect and automatic monitoring and maintenance of BIAS current. Once BIAS current is adjusted properly, it will stay on exactly that value on the first moment after turn on as well as 5 minutes or 5 hours or days later, and it will be independent of heatsink or room temperature! Thanks to that feature, amp is free of thermal runaway and failure in this regard.
