DaVinci Resolve 19 Beta 4

Today we released public beta 4 of DaVinci Resolve 19 which adds further improvements to the DaVinci public beta, including the ability to live sync video from Blackmagic Design cameras. This allows H.264 proxies from the camera to sync into a DaVinci Resolve bin while the camera is recording. This means that within seconds, editors and colorists in post production facilities around the world can see media arriving in real time. Now they can start editing and grading, even while the camera continues to record. Files are live synced to Blackmagic Cloud as they are recorded, and then live synced to all DaVinci Resolve workstations that are connected to the same cloud project. All you need to do is connect to the project!

This update also adds new selection features for Blackmagic Cloud organizations, enabling you to view and switch organizations right from the project manager. This means you no longer have to log out of Blackmagic Cloud to select projects in a different organization.

For DaVinci Resolve Studio users, there is a new occlusion mask for the surface tracker so you can more clearly specify the object you want to track, while tracker modifiers in Fairlight will now default to using IntelliTrack to ensure you the best results when applying audio panning. There are also various improvements to Resolve FX film look creator to provide you with a more realistic film look in HDR mode, as well as better halation and handling of aspect ratios when using this effect.

Other improvements include a new option to select checkerboard and grey alpha viewer background in the cut and edit pages so you can quickly identify images and clips with alpha channels. New and imported projects will now default to camera originals over proxies if they are available, allowing you to grade or edit using the higher quality original footage.

There’s also support for Blackmagic RAW 4.1, improved waveform display for media with synced audio, retention of the playhead position when opening nested clips and a range of general performance and stability improvements.

DaVinci Resolve 19 Beta 5

Today we released public beta 5 of DaVinci Resolve 19 which adds further improvements to the DaVinci public beta, including the ability for multiview layouts in the cut page to adapt to the width of the viewer. This means the layout is optimized to display all of the sources with the minimum amount of blank space. There’s also the ability to set transition type, duration and alignment from the cut page timeline context menu, giving you faster and easier access when making these common editing decisions. In addition, cut page timelines can now show render cache activity so you are able to monitor when caching is in progress or has been completed.

This update also adds new Resolve FX film look creator options for emulating different stocks, allowing you to simulate some of your favorite film looks and adjust them to meet your creative vision. In addition, DaVinci Resolve now has the ability to retain video clip metadata when syncing audio and video files so the user can select to use either audio or video metadata to retain shot, scene and take information. Speed changes in the inspector are now keyframe aware meaning you can now add speed points to the clip and the speed of the clip playback between these keyframes can be adjusted on the timeline or using the inspector.

For DaVinci Resolve Studio, there has been a performance upgrade that allows for up to 3x faster AI performance on supported Intel Windows systems. This means you will experience faster workflows when working with AI tools such as magic mask, text based timeline editing, music remixing, dialogue separation, IntelliTrack AI and UltraNR noise reduction. Also for Studio users, there are new automatic SDR to HDR tone mapping and 2x and 4x SuperScale options when using Windows machines with supported Nvidia GPUs.

Βγήκε η τελική έκδοση 19.
Today we announced that the final release of DaVinci Resolve 19 is now available.

DaVinci Resolve 19 is a major new update which adds new DaVinci Neural Engine AI tools, over 100 feature upgrades such as IntelliTrack AI, Ultra NR noise reduction, ColorSlice six vector grading, film look creator FX and multi source editing on the cut page. For Fusion there are new USD tools and multipoly rotoscoping tools, plus Fairlight has new Fairlight AI audio panning to video, ducker track FX and ambisonic surround sound. Blackmagic Cloud has new features that make it easy to use for large companies with multiple users collaborating on the same project at the same time. There’s also support for DaVinci Resolve Replay so you can create live action replays straight to air during live events and convert those replays into promos, highlight packages and instant social media updates.

With this update, editors can work directly with transcribed audio to find speakers and edit timeline clips. Colorists can produce rich film like tones with the ColorSlice six vector palette and produce cinematic images using the new film look creator effect which emulates photometric film processes. In Fairlight, the IntelliTrack AI can be used to track motion and automatically pan audio. VFX artists in Fusion have an expanded set of USD tools plus a new multipoly rotoscoping tool which displays all of your masks in a single list. The cut page has new broadcast replay tools for live multi camera broadcast editing, playout and replay with speed control. There’s also support for live sync with Blackmagic Cloud which uploads media into a DaVinci Resolve bin while the camera is recording so editors and colorists can start working even while the camera is rolling.

We would like to thank all of the customers that participated in the beta program, tested the software in a variety of workflows, reported bugs and helped to make DaVinci Resolve 19 even more reliable.

19.02
Today we released DaVinci Resolve 19.0.2 which adds support for decoding MPEG transport stream clips, giving you a greater range of file types to use in post production. There is also improved audio alignment when replacing clips in the media pool, meaning you can use newer clips versions with mismatching timecodes, while keeping the video and audio in sync.

There is also support for new media pool API scripts to select clips, plus per clip custom metadata as well as source start and end values. These new API scripts will allow you to streamline your post production workflow by automating time consuming, repetitive tasks when working with media pool clips.

This update also improves handling of metadata in EDL clip names, meaning when you export a clip in an edit decision list, the clip name will be retained in the metadata and correctly displayed when imported back into DaVinci Resolve. Also, when using the replace clip command, the destination track settings will now be retained, allowing you to perform multiple edits in succession with your chosen destination settings.

Davnici Resolve 19.1
Today we released DaVinci Resolve 19.1, which includes a range of features and improvements that will give you more control and significantly speed up your multicam, audio and visual effects workflows.

On the edit page, there is a new trim slider for the audio menu of the inspector, allowing channels of a source clip to be trimmed independently. You can trim one or more channels at once, allowing you to balance the audio of a multichannel recording before editing it in the timeline. There are also new menu actions to select nearest in, out or roll edit points, and improved audio ducker support allowing you to select multiple tracks to trigger the ducking. This is useful in a two shot where you can select audio from both characters to automatically trigger background noise reduction.

For Fairlight, audio tracks can now be duplicated or disabled from the track header context menu, while duplicated tracks will make an identical copy, including all media, settings and automation. You can also reorder tracks and busses by dragging their name in the mixer and when trimming audio you will now see the waveform overlays of the clip being worked on and the clip next to it. These improvements will make it clearer and easier to make adjustments to your audio.

There are new Fusion effects, including generators so you can quickly create backgrounds such as stage curtains, a star field and gradient or radial lines. There are also new title templates to make it easy to add more interesting titles to your work including those with a glass effect, rainbow style or a gradient outline. In addition, Fusion media inputs will now honor upper or lower field dominance for interlaced footage. This means the effects you apply will display and render correctly based on the original scan pattern. In addition, there is a new tool in Fusion which lets you export USD assets and scenes from compositions, including all geometry, lighting and cameras, speeding up your post production visual effect workflow. This update also includes support for USD 24.08 with improved MaterialX performance and polygon and B-spline viewer toolbar controls.

When color grading, you can now copy the active node stack layer from timeline clips in the gallery and apply to clips on your current timeline. This allows you to easily copy a grade from one layer to another, giving you more flexibility to create and compare different looks. If you're working with a DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel there is now a dedicated setting in the menu that allows you to more easily edit custom curve control points using your panel.

For DaVinci Resolve Studio, there are improvements to object mask caching, so you can edit clips prior to the object mask node and the mask will be retained. This means if you resize, color grade or change the order of nodes before the color mask, the mask itself won't be affected. There is also new support for decoding and playback of spatial photos and videos. This means you can now edit, color grade and apply effects to this footage and render it for playback on your Apple Vision Pro.

This update also adds reorder functionality to jobs in the render queue. This means you can now drag and drop jobs in your render queue to change the order when your priorities change and you need to render something quickly. There’s also the ability to encode 10 bit H.265 Main10 formats in DaVinci Resolve on Windows, giving you higher quality rendered images, as well as a new context menu option on the media page to automatically sync bins from file folders.

DaVinci Resolve 19.1.1

Today we released DaVinci Resolve 19.1.1 update which adds the ability to paste clips in the timeline at either the playhead or the in and out points. This gives you greater flexibility when applying your edits so you can choose the method that’s easiest for your workflow. When editing there’s also improved system stability for previewing clip transitions with FusionFX applied. Track controls are also now correctly displayed in the edit index, making it easier to select and disable tracks.

For Fusion, when working with fisheye textures in the spheremap 3D tool, the effect will now render correctly, making it easier to work with materials and reflections. There is also greater stability when adding two point b-spline polygons so you can confidently create soft edge mattes. In addition, when reviewing the thumbnail timeline on the color page, spatial photos will now display more reliably so you can quickly see and select shots.

For Fairlight, this update improves automation trim controls when playing your timeline so you can more consistently trim and adjust clips. Also, when importing AAFs with full clip fades, the start and end fade levels are now correctly applied so they will be accurately reproduced.

In addition, for those using older operating systems there are a range of improvements. There’s better H.265 encoding on computers with older NVIDIA graphics cards, giving you smaller, higher quality renders. For those using Mac Sequoia 15.1 operating systems, H.265 multipass renders will now be accurately completed. There is also a new render option for MP4s on Windows 10 giving you greater compatibility with a wider range of older media players.
