Luxman SQ-38u Integrated Amplifier - Tube
Luxman first introduced the SQ-38 in 1963 and it was a terrific success.
Second Generation of the famous "SQ-38D" is that from 1964, roughly 44 years ago!
(Output tubes: 6RA8, power transformers: OY-14, 10W +10 W) at 50,000 units was also a big hit.
Third Generation "SQ-38F" in 1968, F at the time was meant as an abbreviation for Final as Luxman thought that they would soon have to cease vacuum tube production due to the increased prevalence of the transistor in audio component design.
For 2009 the eleventh generation SQ-38 is a wonderful blend of old & new; the Luxman SQ-38u incorporates many modern features in a classic design that exudes luxury & class.
Another remarkable design from Kazuyuki Doi - who brought us the MQ-88 / CL-88 as well more recently the NeoClassico. Conservatively rated @ 30 watts per channel, the Luxman SQ-38u gives an ultra-linear output as well as offering the trademark Luxman reliability and quality build.
Here is an amplifier that can be inherited by the next generation.

Luxman announce the D-38u CD player.
The styling is clearly designed to be the perfect partner with the recently launched SQ38u integrated. Price is anticipated to be around £2500 and UK availability in Nοvember.
D-38u Features:
• 16mm thick MDF case with a natural wood veneer enhances the overall rigidity of the D-38u
• More than just a pretty face, the 8mm thick front panel, is a hairline-finished aluminum board which adds chassis rigidity
• D-38u circuitry is designed specifically for playing CDs, with a left-hand mechanism adopted for an ideal flow of power supply and audio signals
• Drive mechanism is supported on a thick 15mm base plate of pure aluminum for added stability and reduced jitter
• D-38u D/A converter features a 24Bit, 192KHz PCM1754 Burr-Brown DAC chipset
• Switch on the fly between Tube Output and Solid State Output, 12AU7 is only lit when vacuum tube section is in use
• Headphone output is driven by analog output, can be switched between Tube and Solid State on the fly
• Large, Easy to read display offers a 3-stage dimmer function (brightness adjustment)
