Re: Nέοι φακοί από Sigma
H Sigma ανακοίνωσε αρχές Γενάρη τον νεο Sigma 50mm DG HSM | Art
Sigma has announced the 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | A, a fast 'normal' prime for full frame DSLRs. It will also work on APS-C / DX format cameras, offering a 75mm equivalent short telephoto effect.
It's a completely new lens, rather than a revision of Sigma's existing 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM, with an unusually complex optical formula for its type (13 elements in 8 groups). It's also rather large, with a strong family resemblance to the excellent 35mm F1.4 DG HSM. Overall this suggests Sigma has adapted an optical design normally used for retrofocal wide angle primes (rather like Zeiss has with the Otus 1.4/55), instead of producing a variant on the double-Gauss formula generally used for 50mm primes. The 50mm F1.4 will be available in Canon, Nikon, Sigma and Sony mounts.
The lens employs an ultrasonic-type focusing motor, and according to Sigma uses improved autofocus algorithms. It's also compatible with Sigma's USB dock (allowing the user to update the firmware when required), and Sigma's Mount Conversion service. Pricing and availability are still to be confirmed.

"But the most impressive information we gleaned? When discussing their goals of image quality and sharpness for the lens, Sigma mentioned they're confident they'll surpass competitive products from Canon and Nikon and are instead gunning for Zeiss's new 55mm Otus lens. It's a serious claim. The Zeiss 55mm f/1.4 Otus lens -- with its $4000 price tag -- is squarely aimed at high-end professional shooting such as fashion, advertising and editorial work."

"One of the most eagerly awaited lenses in recent memory is the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens, the upcoming new entry into Sigma's well received Art line. While we don't know how much it'll go for yet, Sigma has made no secret of the fact that they're going after the big boys—like the $4,000 Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4. And you know what? It looks like they just might be able to pull it off.
Chinese site Xitek has published the first test results that we've seen with the new Sigma (though the site is struggling under the international attention—but you can still see it through Google Cache). They pitted the Sigma against the Zeiss Otus, as well as a Nikon 58mm f/1.4 G, and the Sony Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ZA SSM. And while these images and figures they've posted are by no means the last word, they do show
a lens that's giving the Zeiss a run for its money."
"Before you sell your Otus, it's worth noting that we know almost nothing about the test conditions used to take the photos. We have no idea what -- if any -- post-processing was done to the images. And the lenses were obviously mounted on different cameras. Judging by the file sizes, our guess is that the Sigma test shot was taken on a Mark III, the Sony with an A99 and the Nikon and Otus on a D800 or D800E. But before you sell every 50mm you own to buy the Art, you should probably wait till we get the lens in-house and run our exhaustive, objective tests."
