Sigma leveraged this design even further to develop a new manual focusing experience. The lens will temporarily switch to manual focus automatically when the focus ring is turned during autofocus operation, allowing photographers to work quickly in fast-changing conditions without the need for a physical toggle switch. Autofocus doesn’t turn off during this application, though, and will re-engage as soon as the photographer no longer moves the focus ring.
