Extra bit depth is actually pretty useless for most photographers who actually care this much to. be talking about it. An underexposed or overexposed image recovered between 12-bit and 14-bit don’t really yield you much difference. It can help you a bit more when you’re editing the color channels though. And it’s useless when you’re shooting JPEGs. Where it does matter, however, is with printing.
