Πριν πολλά χρόνια είχα ακούσει στο ραδιόφωνο, μεσ' στη μαύρη νύχτα, ένα μοιρολόι μάλλον ηπειρώτικο. Η απόλυτη ανατριχίλα.
Δυστυχώς ποτέ δεν κατάφερα να βρω ποιο είναι.

Κάποιοι λένε ότι η Chaconne του Bach γράφτηκε στη μνήμη της πρώτης του γυναίκας. Άλλοι λένε ότι είναι μουσική αναπαράσταση της πορείας του Χριστού στο Γολγοθά. Άλλοι πάλι υποστηρίζουν ότι πρόκειται μόνο για μιά βασανισμένη ζωή. Όποια και αν είναι η ερμηνεία του, πρόκειται για ένα από τα καλύτερα κομμάτια μουσικής που γράφτηκαν ποτέ. Ο Nathan Milstein x ήταν από τους πιό εκλεκτούς ερμηνευτές του. Γι αυτό και το επέλεξε να το παίξει στην τελευταία του συναυλία σε ηλικία 83 ετών. Ίσως να μην είναι η καλύτερη τεχνικά ερμηνεία του, αλλά είναι σίγουρα η πιό συγκινητική.
