MSB

Platinum Dac IV (Fra $5995)
Platinum Data CD IV ($2995)

The most exciting feature of the MSB transport is the ability to read high resolution computer files, without the use of a computer. Not just common resolutions, but .WAV files up to 384 kHz sampling rate and 32 bits!

Upsampling is an option with this transport. Having solved the disc read and output issues, upsampling is not an option that needs to be selected to optimize the performance of an individual DAC. Different digital filters are used for different input sample frequencies. Most DACs will sound much better with an equivalent higher frequency input, and for those, upsampling can be a real benefit. The MSB DAC IV includes upsampling internally so we do not recommend using upsampling in the transport. But for any other DAC, you will probably find a significant improvement with MSB upsampling.

The Data CD IV requires an outboard 12V power supply. This supply can be in the form of a desktop supply, or has been included in the MSB Platinum Power Base as an option, allowing the transport and DAC to be powered by the same base (shown above). An MSB Platinum Digital Power Base can also be ordered which only operates the transport.

Dac 202

The DAC202 is the latest Weiss 24bit/192kHz firewire digital to analogue converter. It has a completely newly designed D/A converter and new analog output stages compared to the Minerva. The D/A converter uses two converters per channel to gain in signal to noise ratio. Firewire connection provides internal master clock mode while playback audio files from computer. The ideal dejittering circuit regardless of AES, SPDIF, Toslink or Firewire input.

Digital Inputs:

AES/EBU or S/PDIF on 1 XLR, 1 RCA, 1 Toslink, Firewire
Digital Outputs:

AES/EBU on 1 XLR, 1 RCA, Firewire
Analog Output:

2 stereo analog outputs, one on XLR one on RCA,
Headphone output on 1/4#8221; Jack
Level control main output:

4 coarse settings via relays (analog domain), fine setting via rotary encoder (digital domain).
Level control can be defeated for the main output.
Level control headphone output:

4 coarse settings via relays (analog domain, independent from the settings in the main output), fine setting via rotary encoder (digital domain).

Sampling rates: 44.1 up to 192 khz / 24 Bits

Wordsync input / output on BNC

Frontpanel controls:

LCD display for display of sampling rate, input source, audio level, abso-
lute phase, upsampling filter type, various menu items
Rotary encoder with push switch
IR receiver
Standby LED
Headphone Jack socket
Special features hidden in sub-menues:

Transparency check (allows to check the bit transparency of a playback chain)
Setting of the coarse output levels (analog domain)
Dual / single wire selection for 176.4 / 192 kHz sampling rate
Display brightness
IR Remote control switches:
Power on / off
Volume up / down
Input sources (4 switches for Firewire, XLR, RCA, Toslink)

Evolution e Series

Evolution 400e - $23,000/pr
Evolution 600e - $37,000/pr
Evolution 900e - $50,000/pr
Evolution 302e - $12,500
Evolution 402e - $18,500
Evolution 403e - $25,000

Krell Industries has just announced a substantial upgrade to the Evolution lineup of amplifiers.
The new enhanced, Evolution e Series, delivers greater fidelity while at the same time reducing its carbon footprint.

Redefined Power Supply
An intense upgrade to the power supply includes a new separate toroidal transformer for the digital control circuitry, improved EMI suppression of high frequency artifacts, and a
substantial increase in capacitive power supply reserve. A new green mode reduces the standby power draw dramatically. As an example, the Evolution 402e power draw drops from
370W to 2W #8211; a reduction of 99.5%.
The new standby mode is user selectable and turns off all non critical circuitry. The power indicator ring glows green in the new mode. The standard standby mode, which keeps all but the output stages active, is still available and indicated by a red ring on the power indicator.

Sound Enhancements
The audio circuitry has also received enhancements in the new Evolution e Series. Building on the unique Active Cascode Topology foundation of the Evolution Series, the e Series
amplifiers feature more precisely balanced current sharing among the seven sets of Active Cascode Quartets that make up the output stage. This greater precision elevates an already
impressive performance envelope and provides greater amplifier reliability. A new feedback implementation delivers improved dynamic performance.
