The Total Media Theatre software that we will be selling on the VidaBox website will be the same version of the software that we will be pre-loading on our line of HTPCs. This Arcsoft version is a version that has been pretested by VidaBox with bug fixes and updates specifically requested by VidaBox. The custom version of the Arcsoft software will be continually updated by Arcsoft with bug fixes and disc compatibility updates that may be specifically requested by VidaBox. We test virtually every high definition disc for compatibility as they come out. Any disc that has playback issues will be reported to Arcsoft and an update will be pushed out once we find the fix works. So these fixes will most likely be pushed out faster by our custom version than the retail version. It is our goal to have the most up to date player available to our customers.

Many of you have had questions with regards to launching movies from the hard drive using Arcsoft. At a fundimental level, Arcsoft will support launching of HD & BD movies from the hard drive similar to how PowerDVD used to. Secondly, we have been working hand-in-hand with Brian Binnerup from MyMovies to included support for the Arcsoft player in MyMovies 2.42. This will allow you to launch the Arcsoft player from MyMovies for HD & BD movies you may have archived to the hard drive. Our version has been customized so that MyMovies will work with it and we will continue to work with Brian and Arcsoft to make sure that the support will continue with future versions.

Lastly, we understand you frustrations with VidaBox constantly changing the release dates for the Arcsoft software. The reasons the dates have been getting pushed back is because we have been finding minor bugs and compatibility issues with certain discs. We are testing the last build for release and hope to make it available on our shopping site in a week or two.

Please feel free to post questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.

There will be limited unique features in the VidaBox version of the Arcsoft software. The most notable one is that they added remote control support for their 2ft interface in the VidaBox version. The MCE plug-in has remote support but lacks a away to launch movies from hard drive. We also had them remove a UAC pop-up window that came up when the MCE plug-in was launched. You you would have needed the keyboard to click past it which makes it difficult for those who only want to use the remote. I think the primary benefit will be a more accelerated pace for bug fixes and disc compatibility. We will also continue to work to support MyMovies and its various future versions.

We will be selling the software only to HTPC enthusiasts

You will not need to purchase one of our systems. The software will be sold as a standalone product to anyone who might be interested in purchasing it.

Arcsoft has told us that they don't downsample the audio but we at VidaBox have not had a chance to test. We have been focused on other bug fixes. We hope to test this in the next couple of weeks. We also know there is a hardware accel bug in the G35 chipset and are working with Arcsoft to get that resolved.

I know that Arcsoft will support DTS-HD MA and DD TrueHD. I don't know for sure if it will support bitstream. I can post the question to Arcsoft but at this point, hardware with bitstream support is limited both on the PC side and the audio side. I'm not even sure if the G35 chipset supports bitstream. I know of no other solutions. We are also eagerly waiting the Auzentech add-on board and know of nothing more than you guys do in this forum.

It will be a digital download only. Not a boxed version. We will email the activation key after the order is processed. VidaBox will not be providing a demo version. I don't think there will be a demo version from Arcsoft either.

Another thing to note is that there is no VidaBox phone support for the Arcsoft software. Phone support is limited to VidaBox HTPC systems. Support will be provide by Arcsoft or through our support forum.
