Michael Guthmann (and brief appearance of Mark Thacker (sp?) at 35 mins in)
1 f-stop better dynamic range; ‘very close’ to Canon R6 and Sony A7 3
RAW files are better because BSI mainly, and less from the processor
80 million sub-pixel; sub-pixels are not being used for noise reduction, and not for hdr.
NR in Workspace is proprietary; the NR is added on to the gains from the sensor
quad pixel AF — only Olympus has this system in a camera at present (Canon may have a similar patent)
4/3 lenses are supported (but not C-AF in movie modes), but not the same performance as micro 4/3 lenses (because of moving heavier lenses). So a degree of improvement in AF speed.
free battery comes with camera; register for extra warranty after receipt
no new lens on road-map; no changes in road map
High Speed Movie mode — AF and AE are locked.
Firmware updates for 1m3 and 1x, including menus? No info.
Mark Thacker: Availability should be very good; looks like March will sell out at some point, but another shipment in April — won’t be like 150-400mm
Best BIF settings — C-AF without tracking, but depends ...
Charges both batteries in parallel (presumably with handgrip) — like 1x.
Can’t answer why you can’t have slower blackout-free rates
When more than two birds with tracking, how do you choose? If all field is chosen, weighting to the one closer to the centre; or closest to your focus box selection. Also better marked selection of focused bird than with 1x
Why a wireless remote given the phone app? Heavy rain, battery life.
Support continues for all current models
image quality is thought to be the same for all speeds; read-out mode is different
(Misleading question asked, misled by Tesni Ward — who has subsequently clarified her review.)
for 100-400mm use both in-lens and in-body stabilisation; improves result, even though not in-sync (for OM-1).
no plan to get rid of 30 min limit in older models
Workspace 1.5 won’t be updated to handle OM-1 raws.
1x successor? No comment (company policy)
Home AF? What happened? Guthmann surprised also that this seems to have gone; will put in a request.
