Σήμερα το πρωί, η Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) ανακοίνωσε ότι η beta έκδοση του PLAYSTATION®Home δεν θα πραγματοποιηθεί αυτό το καλοκαίρι.
“We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today,” said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PLAYSTATION Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation® tradition.”

Ο David Reeves (SCEE president) μίλησε στην ιστοσελίδα CVG και δήλωσε ότι η beta έκδοση θα δοθεί στο κοινό όταν ολοκληρώσουν το κομμάτι του παιχνιδιού μέσα στο Home.

"It is definitely coming out in autumn," assured Reeves. "Whether that's October or November, I don't precisely know, but it is an open beta."
"We've realised that maybe we were too ambitious with the non-gaming applications within Home, getting sponsors and stuff like that," he went on to confess.
"In that sense we were deserting gamers. So, we're concentrating on the gaming by launching games in Home, and attracting people who are into gaming in first - instead of the Nike people, or Adidas people who are into fashion and not necessarily into gaming."
"We did Buzz, we're doing LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, and there are obviously others that we're developing. We're becoming less dependent on third parties."
"It's got to be something that catches our eye and we think will bring new consumers into the industry. We can't keep recycling consumers from one iteration of PlayStation or Wii to another. We've got to gather up new people as we go through the years,"

Around July we’re going to be expanding on the closed beta phase and allowing more people to gradually come in, and then in November this year we’ll be going to the open beta.”
“The extension to the closed beta allows us to have more conversations with our community. We’re very much in close conversations with them. A lot of the changes we’ve done have been the result of feedback. We’ve asked the community a lot of questions, they’ve given us a lot of feedback as to what they think needs improving, and we’re doing that, so it’s managing expectations.”

To "Home" θα είναι region locked.
Όλα δείχνουν ότι το "Home" θα έχει region locked, δηλαδή δεν θα μπορούμε να βρισκόμαστε με άτομα από διαφορετική ήπειρο πάρα μόνο με Ευρωπαίους. Όμως θα έχουμε την δυνατότητα να τους κάνουμε invite στο apartment μας για συνομιλία αλλά δεν θα μπορούμε να τους συναντήσουμε για gaming.

Γιάννη πότε θα το έχουμε στα χέρια μας;(στα ps3 δηλ.) Ισχύει ότι θα το κατεβάσουμε δωρεάν απ'το store; Και ποιος θα είναι ακριβώς ο σκοπός του Home;
Θα βρίσκεται στα χέρια μας μέσα στο 2008 και θα είναι διαθέσιμο δωρεάν από PSstore.
Σάκη το "Home" είναι η δικτυακή κοινότητα ανάμεσα στους χρήστες του Playstation 3. Αυτό που θα μας προσφέρει είναι να συναντιόμαστε δικτυακά και να έχουμε μια ευχάριστη δικτυακή ψυχαγωγία!
Όπως όλα δείχνουν στις 19 Νοεμβρίου θα έχουμε την δυνατότητα πρόσβασης στο PlayStation®Home.

Μέτα την ολοκλήρωση της version 1.0 για το "Home" άρχισε η διάθεση των πρώτον επίμαχων κλειδιών,προς το παρόν μόνο για Αμερικανούς. Υποθέτω σε μια εβδομάδα θα έρθει και η σειρά μας!
