I compared HD100 (non-calibrated) to a calibrated AE2000 and a calibrated HD1. The comparison was done on the same light-controlled (not a full batcave though) room, with the same 92" screen. I had two projectors running at the same time and was able switch between them by blocking the lens from the other.
All I can say is pretty much the same as the others who have seen it said: HD1000 has much crisper/sharper picture and it shows than HD1. I watched the dark Batman Begins Ninja School scenes and the HD100 was able to show much more details from faces etc. Almost made the HD1 look soft. The difference in contrast and black level was not that easy to notice as the HD100 was not calibrated and the light-control in room was not quite perfect. As the projectors were in a vendor's demo room I'd assume there was not that many hours in the lamps to make any significant difference.
Both HD1 and HD100 destroyed the AE2000 completely: shadow detail, contrast, level of black etc. are from another planet. AE2000 may be a class-leader in it's own price category, but it sure is no giant-killer unless you put primary color accuracy above everything else in your criteria.
I have a 82" inch Stewart Grayhawk Electriscreen (quite a short short-throw installation in a small room) on order and I'm 96% sure I'll be getting a HD100 to accompany it.
