Main features in system software update version 2.40
* Displaying the PS3 Home Menu screen during gameplay
You can now access the PS3 Home Menu screen while playing PLAYSTATION 3 format software.
* Searching the Internet from the PS3 Home Menu screen
You can now perform an Internet search directly from the PS3 Home Menu screen.
Other new or revised features in version 2.40
Overall
* You can now see the system clock on the PS3 Home Menu screen. The date and time that were set under Settings > [Date and Time] are displayed.
* When using a keyboard, you can now clear the entire text entry field at once.
* An icon is now displayed when you press the PS button for an operation that cannot be performed.
Users
* You can now turn off the PS3 system from the PS3 Home Menu screen using the [Turn Off System] option.
Settings
* You can now set the PS3 system to turn off automatically after updating the system software.

Upscaling Blu-ray Disc (BDAV) content
Upscaling of Blu-ray Disc (BDAV) video content is now supported.
BDAV is a Blu-ray Disc video format. Generally, when video content is recorded on BD-R or BD-RE media using a Blu-ray Disc recorder, the content is recorded in BDAV format.
To adjust settings for upscaling of BDAV content, press the button during video playback to display the control panel, and then select av settings (AV Settings) > [Upscale].
Off : Set to disable upscaled output.
Double Scale : Set to upscale and display with double horizontal and vertical dimensions.
Normal : Set to upscale and display at a size that matches the screen size.
Full Screen* : Set to upscale and display at full screen by stretching the image.
* The proportions may change depending on the content.
Hints

Δυστυχώς, η χθεσινή πολυαναμενόμενη αναβάθμιση του firmware (έκδοση 2.40) για το PlayStation 3 φαίνεται πως έφερε σοβαρά προβλήματα στο σύστημα της Sony. Όπως έγινε γνωστό, πολλοί χρήστες όλων των μοντέλων PS3 αναφέρουν πως παρουσιάζονται διαφόρων ειδών προβλήματα στην κονσόλα τους, έπειτα από την εγκατάσταση της αναβάθμισης, τα οποία μπορεί να αφορούν την αδυναμία χρήσης μικροφώνου μέχρι το ολοκληρωτικό «πάγωμα» του PS3 στην αρχική εικόνα παρουσίασης του λογότυπου. Εξαιτίας της παραπάνω κατάστασης η Sony αποφάσισε να αποσύρει, προσωρινά, την εν λόγω αναβάθμιση ενώ σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωσή της δήλωσε πως εργάζεται επάνω στη διόρθωση των προβλημάτων που έχουν παρουσιαστεί.

Ομοίως...αλλά, για περίπου τρεις ώρες μετά την εγκατάσταση...δεν παρατήρησα κάτι περίεργο...(δοκίμαζα κάποια DEMO παιχνίδια, από το store)...είδωμεν...
