On 23 May, Sony officially registered a new code for a camera that has not yet been released (see image above). In total, we now have three official camera codes in China. One of these is for the newly announced Sony FX2 (we still need to find out which one). This means that at least two cameras will be announced in the next 3-4 months. Here are the details of these registrations:

  • Code “WW934774” manufactured by Sony Shanghai and registered on on April 21: Cinema line and video products such as FX9 and FX6
  • Code “WW697160” manufactured by Sony Japan and registered on May 9: Usually those are for high-end products such as the α1II, α9 III, and A7rV
  • Code “WW084220” manufactured by Sony Wuxi and registered on May 23: Low to mid-range products such as ZV-1F, ZV-E10M2, α7 IV, and α7C
All we learn from these registrations is that all cameras do support dual band (which means there is no entry level camera) and that we will get two more camera announcements between June and September. My guess is that the Sony FX2 is manufactured in Shanghai, China (WW934774). This leaves us with a high-end camera manufactured in Japan and a mid-to-low-end product manufactured in Wuxi. Here is a list of candidates:

  • Code “WW697160” registered by Sony Japan could be for a new Sony A7sIV, RX1rIII, Sony A7rVI
  • Code “WW084220” registered by Sony Wuxi: Low to mid-range products such as ZV-E1II, A7V

Sony today unveiled a new global shutter sensor with 105 MP and 100 fps. The sensor diagonal measures 39.7 mm, which is slightly smaller than the full-frame diagonal of 43.3 mm, but still larger than APS-C (26.8 mm). This sensor was developed for industrial use, but we can assume that some of these technologies will also be used in future Alpha camera sensors. Here are the key specifications:

  • Model: Sony IMX927
  • Type: 2.5-type (39.7 mm diagonal) stacked CMOS
  • Effective Resolution: ~105 Megapixels
  • Pixel Size: 2.74 μm (back-illuminated structure)
  • Shutter: Global shutter (Pregius S™ technology)
  • Frame Rate: Up to 100 fps (10-bit output)
  • Noise: Minimal, distortion-free imaging
  • Package: New ceramic package with connector
  • Sample Shipment: Mid-November 2025

Sony Viewfinder Eye-Gaze AF Patent

A patent from Sony, which uses the user’s eye to select AF points, has been discovered, similar to what Canon is doing in cameras like the Canon EOS R3 and Canon EOS R1. This technology could show up on a future camera like the Sony a9IV or Sony A1III.

Οι άλλοι το έχουν λύσει με επιτυχία, απορώ πως κόλλησαν αυτοί έχοντας και δείγμα γραφής.

Sony A7V specs known so far (from trusted sources):

  • A7V has been registered in Indonesia with the code “WW824259”. The camera is manufactured in Thailand
  • Leaked image seems to suggest it has 33Mps sensor (we don’t know if it’s a tweaked A7IV sensor version or a new partially stacked)
  • new AI chip like the Sony A1II
  • Same Sony A7rV body design. This means same 4 way fully articulating screen and same controls
  • It does NOT have the Sony A1II/A9III grip design
  • price close to $3000
  • Announcement likely in November at earliest with shipment start in January/February
