"Just wanted to share my personal experience with the local X-mer users, who are already using LM4562NA, you should also check out the more expensive AD8066 (dual) opamp...the SQ and soundstaging is fantastic and image separation is few times better than LM4562, it is as detailed (actually I find the detail is same but spread out more naturally to give a more 3D ambience but in no way DSP gimmick-like) but more musical and less hard sounding compared to the LM4562....
But the downside, yes...money...one chip cost ~US$28-30 with grounding capacitors and a bit less without the extra two caps...I have the Caps version but I did not ground them yet as I am not into DIY, just musical enjoyment...
The DIY guru did claim that the grounding effect is phenomenal, cleaner sounding and less interference during noisy and complex musical presentations...
I dont know abt the cap grounding part but as it is, even without grounding, music is 2-3x better sounding than the LM4562NA (for me at least, this is a personal experience mind you, YMMV, some ppl may still prefer the harder sounding LM4562). Oh yeah, the bass of the LM4562 is good but wait till you hear the quality of the bass on the AD8066, u dont even need to analyse anything, immediately appreciable upgrade...overall...simply more musical...pls try it, if you dont like it, just continue with the LM4562/OPA2134...Now my front channel =AD8066(planning for dual mono 8065 later), side/centre-sub =LM4562, back surround= OPA2134 (the 2134 sound the most ordinary of them all)...Rob, kindly try them out and let me know your opinion...thanks for introducing me to the LM4562, they are also great opamps for the price...but I just find the AD8066 more to my taste
I am not posting any links, those interested can easily search the AD8066 out, I have been poisoned by the dealer to get an even more expensive version, dual 8065 on a DIP socket...one chip for each left-right channel..pure dedication akin to a monoblock
So far, I have yet to try the 627 which is again more expensive and can buy 1/3 the X-mer cost-wise....
My listening session is purely for musical playback, i dont record or master...using ATC SCM11/Dynaudio 52 powered by Naim Nait 5i/Rotel RA-1062....using Supra ply 3.4S biwire /occasionally anti-cables and QED SA XT biwire (I switch cables, so you can understand why I use so many different opamps)..Maxing out on AD8066 on all 4 channels would be overkill as they cost 2/3 of the whole soundcard...For movie/HT, I think the 2134 is good enough...."
