Review: 2018 Samsung Q9F 65″ QLED 4K HDR TV

Conclusion

Amazingly, Samsung has adapted FALD LED-LCD technology to make it a viable competitor to OLED. There are quite a few situations where this TV is the perfect tool for the job because it is able to adapt to just about any viewing environment and still provide a clear and dynamic picture.

Regardless of whether you’re a movie lover, sports nut, streaming binge-watcher, dedicated gamer, news-channel junkie, prime-time broadcast/cable TV viewer, or all of the above, you’ll find this TV has features that maximize the viewing experience. This year’s Q9F is such a compelling TV it’s an easy “Top Choice!” selection for 2018.

Re: Απάντηση: Re: -Samsung TV Line-up 2018-

Samsung QE65Q9FN review

QLED comes of age - and OLED had better watch out
It’s shots fired in the 2018 leg of the QLED vs OLED campaign, and the QE65Q9F has drawn blood

Good Stuff
Astonishingly punchy, bright and vibrant
Deep, detailed blacks
Loads of apps
Great for gaming
Genius evolution of OneConnect

Bad Stuff
Sony does motion even better
OLEDs offer even deeper blacks and even better viewing angles

verdict

But, by golly, there are so many reasons that you should get excited about the Samsung Q9FN.

That direct, full array backlight is a revelation that, combined with Samsung’s quantum dot tech, results in the brightest, punchiest, most vibrant TV we’ve yet reviewed, with expertly controlled, zonal contrast that means the brightest elements don’t reduce the quality of the blacks.

An OLED will still go blacker but, on the evidence of 2017 examples such as the Sony A1, it won’t dig up nearly as much dark detail or go nearly as bright.

What’s more, no TV we’ve yet seen can beat the Q9FN for usability, breadth and depth of apps, or gaming features.

We’re still in the early days of 2018 TVs and we’re yet to test one of LG’s new OLEDs, but a TV better and more complete than this is currently quite hard to imagine.

USA $ 3,799
http://www.samsung.com/de/tvs/qled-q9fn/GQ65Q9FNGTXZG/

Europe 4.399 ($5,425)
http://www.samsung.com/de/tvs/qled-q9fn/GQ65Q9FNGTXZG/

UK £3,799 ($5,400)
http://www.samsung.com/uk/tvs/qledtv-q9fn/QE65Q9FNATXXU/

Samsung Q9FN TV review: The big, bright, back-lit QLED boss

Verdict

Samsung needed to get its QLED story back on track quickly after the technology's hit-and-miss debut last year. Fortunately the Q9FN achieves that goal - and then some.

The switch to a direct-lit screen with outstanding local dimming technology finally sets Samsung's Quantum Dots free, letting their full colour, contrast and brightness potential shine - literally. No other TV before has served up so much of HDR's potential.

Some people will still prefer the gorgeous pixel-level light precision rival OLED TV technology can muster - especially if they're more interested in standard dynamic range playback than HDR. Some people may also decide they just can't live without Dolby Vision, despite the Q9FN's support for HDR10+ and remarkable performance with (standard) HDR10.

The bottom line, though, is that the Q9FN is at the very least a worthy rival for any OLED TV seen to date. For its sheer, unadulterated HDR impact, there's currently nothing out there to match it.

:chinscratch:

Κάνει σχόλιο πιο κάτω για την Sony στα Alternatives to consider

Sony ZD9

This 65-inch Sony LCD TV has been the HDR king since its launch in 2016 - which is why Sony continues to sell it now. It actually uses more local dimming zones than even the QE65Q9FN, and it combines this impressive backlight control with gorgeous colour and extreme amounts of brightness. The QE65Q9FN betters it with its higher brightness and reduced backlight clouding, but the Sony can now be had for some aggressive prices - routintely below £3000 now
