Αν κάποια ταινία κυκλοφορεί ως HDR σε UHD BluRay ή κάποιο streaming service και δεν συμπεριλαμβάνεται σε αυτή τη λίστα, εκτός κι αν δηλώνεται ρητά στην κυκλοφορία ότι έχει γίνει remastering από τους δημιουργούς, πρόκειται για εκ των υστέρων μετατροπή, που πιθανώς να αλλοιώνει τις αρχικές προθέσεις του σκηνοθέτη και του διευθυντή φωτογραφίας...

Καταρχας, γουσταρω να τον ακουω τον τυπο. Σαν να ακους ηλεκτρονικο συνθετητη φωνης. :laugh:

Ενδιαφερον το βιντεο με τα διαγραμματα tone mapping της καθε τηλεορασης και επεξηγηση του πως συμπεριφερονται.
Ενισχυει την αποψη μου πως το hdr εξελισσεται (σιγα σιγα) και πως το tone mapping δεν ειναι μονο συμβιβασμος ως προς το peak brightness, αλλα αναλογα το tuning του αλγοριθμου, μπορει να επιφερει πιο σκοτεινη εικονα στο apl, απωλεια διαβαθμισεων ψηλα στο οριο φωτεινοτητας, posterization κλπ.

Για αυτο και δεν καιγομαι ακομη για συσκευη HDR, δεν εχει ωριμασει ακομη, τουλαχιστον σε βαθμο οπου να εχουν εξαλειφθει τα προβληματα που προκαλει το tone mapping, οπου οσο θα ανεβαινει το peak brightness με τον καιρο, τοσο λιγοτερο θα επεμβαινει ή θα τιουναρεται διαφορετικα με οτι αυτο συνεπαγεται.
Και μιλω παντα ΜΟΝΟ για oled (ή οποια αλλη αυτοφωτη συσκευη ισως δημιουργησουν μελλοντικα) γιατι αν μιλησουμε για led tv's, μπορει να υπερεχουν σημερα ισως στο peak brightness, ομως η απωλεια καλου μαυρου χαμηλα που θα προκυψει στη λειτουργια HDR καθως και το contrast τους, με κανει να πιστευω οτι HDR και ΜΗ αυτοφωτα Pixels δεν πανε μαζι δυστυχως.

Σε λιγα χρονακια θεωρω οτι το HDR θα εχει βελτιωθει κι αλλο, οπου με τις οποιες αλλες εξελιξεις καθως και πτωσεις τιμων στις πολυ μεγαλες ιντσες θα ειναι περισσοτερο ελκυστικο.
Και για τους παραπανω λογους ΔΕΝ θεωρω σημερα την αγορα μιας 4Κ HDR ως "future proof" κινηση, σε σχεση με μια non-hdr tv.
Ενας σημερινος κατοχος Hdr συσκευης, θα χρειαστει να ξανα αναβαθμιστει σε καποια συσκευη οπου πιανει μεγαλυτερο peak brightness.

Αληθεια, εχουμε καποιο νεο ως προς το που βαδιζουμε σε αυτον τον τομεα. ? Οκ δεν μιλω για 4000nit, αλλα εχει διαβασει καποιος κατι που να προκυπτει οτι στην αυξηση της φωτεινοτητας θα δουμε τα επομενα 2-3 χρονια συσκευες που να πιανουν π.χ. 2000-2500nit. ? Υπαρχει περιθωριο εξελιξης οντως ή το εχουμε τερματισει το θεμα με την υπαρχουσα κατασκευαστικη τεχνολογια των tv's. ?

We compare Dolby Vision dynamic metadata vs HDR10 static metadata on two LG B7 2017 OLED TVs, using 4K Blu-rays played from an OPPO 203 & a Panasonic UB900 player.

Three Ultra HD Blu-ray movie titles were compared, namely Despicable Me 2, The Fate of The Furious, & Power Rangers.

We compare the picture quality & bit-rate of iTunes Movies streaming in 4K Dolby Vision HDR from an Apple TV 4K box versus Ultra HD Blu-rays played from an OPPO UDP-203, displayed on two LG 65-inch B7 OLED TVs which are calibrated.

The two films compared are Spider-man: Homecoming & Transformers: The Last Knight, which are available in Dolby Vision on both iTunes Movies and 4K Blu-ray platforms.

Please do not judge image quality solely from this video alone, because our camera's limited dynamic range cannot fully capture the HDR presentation accurately.

Also, 2017 OLEDs introduce some blue tint off-axis which is unavoidable due to our camera/ TV placement, leading to colour differences which are not present in real-life viewing.

Here's the update of the HDR video format support venn diagram for Novemer. What's changed:

1. I've split the Philips entry into two because brand licensees TP Vision (mainly Europe) and P&F USA are diverging rather than converging. The latter supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision, the former HDR10, HLG and now HDR10plus.

2. I've added Vimeo and Kaleidescape, who both support HDR10 only.

Watch this space for an upcoming analysis of the prospects of each of the formats.
