Re: Total HD Disc (Blu-ray/HD DVD)

Re: Total HD Disc (Blu-ray/HD DVD)

Εγώ πάλι νομίζω ότι αρκεί να βγεί σε μαζική παραγωγή η συσκευή που θα αναπαράγει και τα δύο formats. Από κει και πέρα ας κάνουν ότι θέλουν οι εταιρίες παραγωγής, μιας και ότι και αν αγοράζουμε (είτε blue Ray είτε HD-DVD) εμείς θα μπορούμε να το βλέπουμε στη συσκευή μας. Τι παραπάνω θα μας προσφέρει ένα ενιαίο format;

Goodbye Blue ray ....

CES 2007 Coverage
By Henning Molbaek
FIRST PUBLISHED Jan 9, 2007
Toshiba has announced a new 51GB HD-DVD Rom disc at this year's CES.

Beating Blu-ray by 1GB, Toshiba today said that they had successfully created a triple layer HD-DVD disc that could contain 51GB worth of data with 17GB on each layer.

"Continued improvement in disc mastering technology has achieved further minimization in the recording pit, supporting a further boost in capacity to 17GB in single layer and a full 51GB on a single-sided triple-layer disc. Toshiba has confirmed the disc structure and its successful operation." said the press release. "This time-tested physical structure offers proven volume manufacturing at little cost increment."

Toshiba has now closed the storage gab with Blu-ray, which can store 50GB on a dual-layered disc. It will be exciting to see if this has any effect on the raging format war. Stay tuned.

HD-DVD RIPPING !!!

NAI...To πρώτο πειρατικό copy HD DVD που κυκλοφόρησε στα torrents... end the winner is SERENITY…

The results of hacked HD DVD keys turn up as HD DVDs are released on the Internet
Late last year, a hacker claimed to have circumvented the copy protection scheme used to protect HD DVD and Blu-ray content. Just over two weeks after the news broke, the online pirate community is seeing the fruits of hacker labor with the first release of a full HD DVD available for download.
The first HD DVD movie released is Serenity, which weighs in at 19.6 GB. The file reportedly is available in EVO format and is playable with PC-based players such as PowerDVD at full 1080p resolution.
Other HD DVD movies have quickly followed with the release of Pitch Black at 21.37 GB, The Chronicles of Riddick at 24.94 GB and Batman Begins at 24.76 GB. All HD DVD movies released thus far appear to retain all aspects of the original discs, including various audio options and special features.
While PowerDVD is the software of choice to play the pirated releases, PowerDVD’s developer, Cyberlink, has publically stated that it believes that its software is secure and is not a part of the exploit in extracting the title keys used to decrypt HD DVDs.

Group behind DVD software investigating hacker reports

Group behind DVD software investigating hacker reports
Associated Press
18 January 2007
Created by a coalition of tech and media companies, the much-touted AACS copyright protection may have a loophole, admits chairman
A business group behind copy-protection software for next-generation DVDs was investigating reports that hackers found a way to circumvent its technology, a group member said Wednesday.

"There are reports that indicate success by a number of hackers. We're still evaluating and determining what the most appropriate course of action is," said Michael Ayers, chairman of the group behind the Advanced Access Content System.

The system was created by a coalition of technology and entertainment companies, including The Walt Disney Co., Microsoft Corp., Intel Corp. and Panasonic.

The technology is used to protect high-definition DVDs in both the Blu-ray and HD DVD formats.

Ayers said hackers had apparently exploited a weakness in computer software used to view DVDs.

"We look at it as an attack on one particular implementation," he said."It doesn't breach the security of the AACS technology as a whole, because that one implementation can be fixed. Once it's fixed, then that attack no longer works."

Ayers declined to say which DVD-viewing software had been targeted by hackers but noted that vulnerable versions of the software were no longer available.

A report published Wednesday in The New York Times identified the DVD player software as WinDVD.

The software is distributed by InterVideo Inc., which was acquired last month by Canada-based Corel Corp.

Calls to representatives of InterVideo and Corel were not immediately returned Wednesday.

Σπάσανε και το Blu-Ray!!!

Τhe HD DVD format has already had its copy protection cracked and last we reported about the first HD DVD movies leaking out on the web. The hacker muslix64 which mastered HD DVD's AACS is back and has according to himself also managed to bypass the Blu-ray format's AACS system. At Doom9's forum muslix64 writes that he has developed a software for making backups of Blu-ray movies, although with some limitations. The movie muslix64 was working on was not protected by the BD+ copy protection and this has not been cracked. Exactly how close they are to breaking Blu-ray's entire copy protection is uncertain, but it certainly seems that Blu-ray as well is in for a rough ride.

Oups, I did it again!
In less that 24 hours, without any Blu-Ray equipment, but with the help of Janvitos, I managed to decrypt and play a Blu-Ray media file using my known-plaintext attack...

The file from the movie "Lord of war", play well with VideoLan.

Janvitos gave me few files on the BD disc and a memory dump...

Note that I don't address BD+. The file don't seem to be BD+ protected.

I will keep you informed If I found anything new...

Σε αυτο το forum εγινε η 1η δημοσιευση απο τους ιδιους τους crackers:ernaehrung004:

Αυτό πάλι δεν το καταλαβαίνω. Τις εταιρείες δεν τις συμφέρει να μη σπάει εύκολα το δισκάκι;
