Samsung 3D OLED Display is Practically Paper Thin

The 14-inch panel from Samsung Mobile Display is just 1.6mm thin, and if you look at it from the side you might miss it completely. It's at least three years away from being ready—much less affordable—at sizes that would make it worth owning, but even in the concept it's a pretty incredible feat of engineering.

Mια εύκαμπτη τυλιχτή οθόνη OLED κατασκεύασε η Sony και τη παρουσίασε στην ειδική έκθεση SID 2010 που έχει ως θέμα τεχνολογίες οθόνης.

Η νέα οθόνη OLED της Sony που έχει τη δυνατότητα να τυλίγεται σε ρολό έχει μέγεθος 4,1 ιντσών, πάχος 80 μικρόμετρα και ανάλυση 121 ppi (432x240 pixel) και 1000:1 κοντράστ.

Η οθόνη έχει τη συνατότητα να παρουσιάζει εικόνες ακόμη και ότων τυλίγεται ή ξετυλίγεται. Το τύλιγμα γίνεται γύρω από μια ράβδο διαμέτρο 4 χλστ.

Η οθόνη είναι πρωτότυπη και απευθύνεται σε κινητές συσκευες όπως κινητά, φωτογραφικές ή laptop.

Προς το παρόν οι μηχανικοί έχουν καταφέρει να τυλίγουν και να ξετυλίγουν την οθόνη έως και 1000 φορές χωρίς πρόβλημα.

Αντέ να φτιάουν σύντομα και μεγάλη τηλεόραση ρολό, ώστε να τη κατεβάζουμε από το τοίχο όπω κάνουμε σήμερα με την οθόνη-πανί του προβολέα μας.

Conclusion

It feels like it was a few years ago now when I was last excited to this degree with a TV display. The market and the large numbers of TVs we get for review here tend to leave you a little jaded when there is not a lot to separate products these days. The last big thing that got me so enthusiastic was the Pioneer panels and they haven’t been available for quite some time now. This little OLED TV offers a real step forward in terms of picture quality and comes as standard with a slim design. It is frustrating that we have been waiting for OLED for about the last 5 years, or so, with baited breath. This panel shows us what is possible but will we ever get to see it in large screen sizes and will it still offer this kind of performance when added to such large screen sizes? We certainly hope that is the case.

Mitsubishi start to sale Diamond Vision scalable OLED on 21. September worldwide

Mitsubishi announced today that it will launch "Diamond Vision OLED," the world's first, large-scale display system in the 100-inch and above range that uses organic light emitting diode as its light source. Sales will begin worldwide on September 21.

The product's OLED device, jointly developed between Mitsubishi Electric and Tohoku Pioneer Corporation, creates light by a process of electro-luminescence (EL). Each pixel consists of an anode and cathode separated by a thin, organic membrane.

Mία εντελώς νέα τεχνολογία οθονών εμφανίζεται στο προσκήνιο η οποία κατά κάποιο τρόπο συνδυάζει την τοπολογία των LCD με την τεχνολογία των OLED!


Από την συνεργασία της LG με την QD Vision... θα γεννηθούν οι πολλά υποσχόμενες οθόνες QLED.

Στην πράξη πρόκειται για οθόνες που κάνουν χρήση νανοτεχνολογίας, αφού κάθε τους στοιχείο εικόνας (pixel) υλοποιείται από τέσσερις φωτοδιόδους LED (Kόκκινη-Πράσινη-Κίτρινη & Μπλε).

Δεν θα υπάρχουν χρωματικά φίλτρα δηλαδή και το φως από τον οπίσθιο φωτισμό, το οποίο θα έχει όχι μόνοι τοπικό αλλά σημειακό έλεγχο της φωτεινότητας, ανώτερο των Plasma (!), θα οδεύει αφού περάσει τους υγρούς κρυστάλλους στην οθόνη!

Τα προτερήματα σύμφωνα με τις δύο εταιρείες... δελεαστικά.

Αν μιλάμε για "καθαρό" QLED Display, έχουμε ακόμα πολλά ψωμιά να φάμε μέχρι να το δούμε σε μέγεθος τηλεόρασης... ;)

Samsung has been working hard to ramp up their OLED capacity with a new 5.5. generation OLED factory. Samsung is now reporting that the first phase of the OLED plant is ready for mass production. With the new factory Samsung is able to produce OLED panels for tablets, PC monitors and TVs. Samsung has invested more than 2 billion dollars in the factory......
