'Just a little IR experience. I've had the 50 for about 10 days now and have been modestly successful at remembering to run full screen or the break-in DVD.
Superstition, however, dies hard. When I went out this morning I turned on the break-in disk. When I checked it out about 5 hours later I saw that it had been running in "full" mode which actually meant that it had black bars top and bottom. I hurriedly put it into Zoom.
There were traces of the bars, top and bottom, visible in the single-colors being shown. My wife agreed. I went to the kitchen, muttering about stupidity. When I got back to the TV the elapsed time from putting on Zoom had been approximately 3 minutes, no more. The traces of IR were gone; the single colors were completely uniform top to bottom and side to side.
I think I may not have to worry too much about IR, but I'll still be superstitious enough to baby it through the 150-200 hours. Thanks to all for great info.'
