What are disadvantages of being male as opposed to female?
"men have at least as many issues as women, but people don't care"
Men commit suicide at a higher rate than women
Men get longer jail sentences for the same crimes
Under the current circumstances women get paid more for the same work (if they don't have children) in cities.
If you want to work as an academic you are a lot more likely to get hired if you are a woman.
As a man you are far more likely to be murdered.
For most abilities or attributes of men and women, men occupy a wider range (For example the standard deviation of intelligence in men is bigger than that in women). Which means men are more likely as woman to excel at something and also more likely to be very bad at something. The problem here is that when you are very good at something and are male people see it as discrimination but when you are very bad at something and are male you are a loser.
As a man you are as likely to be a victim of rape (defined as sex without consent) as a woman yet there is far less support for male victims and some institutions maintain the claim that men can't be raped or don't count it as rape if men get raped by women.
If you want to discuss issues that men face feminist activist will do everything to stop you including pulling fire alarms, blocking people from entering the building, making bomb threats etc.
Domestic violence is perpetrated equally by men and women yet in most countries there are no shelters for men or if there are any they get neither funding nor tax exemptions like shelters for women. Some help hotlines for domestic violence offer two phone numbers one for women who fear of becoming a victim and one for men who fear they might victimise others but there is no help for men who are victims.
Erin Pizzey the woman who founded the first women's shelter started to notice that a lot of the women were as (or more) violent than the men they ran away from but when she decided to draw attention to men suffering violence at the hand of women she had to leave the country because she got death threats and her dog was shot.
Men in the US (and probably elsewhere) don't have the right to due process. There was a man where a slightly drunk woman forced a passed out man to have sex, yet when she complained to the university they found him guilty of rape and expelled him. Paul Nungesser is currently suing Columbia University because the university endorsed harassment he received after being accused (and cleared twice) of rape. In India several men have been brutally beaten to death by a mob because they were accused of rape.
As a man you don't have the right to bodily integrity because in most countries you can get circumcised. In some countries it is actively endorsed by medical associations or government organisations, also by the UN. Apparently there are some studies that show health benefits but those studies also show the same benefits for female genital mutilation (notice how it is called genital mutilation for women and circumcision for men) and that is outlawed in most countries.
Men can get drafted in most countries. Which is linked to a risk of injury and or death.
Boys are beaten more than girls by their parents
Boys are raped more often than girls
A recent publication shows that in the Kosovo conflict the UN evacuated only women and children from villages about to be attacked even though they knew (and were made aware several times) that the men would be slaughtered.
Especially in Canada if you are a man and marry a woman she can basically murder you, fabricate allegations that before her death you hit her and that she was afraid of you and get off without a jail sentence. Even if she murders you in her sleep (so not self-defense) and there are not witnesses of her every being hit.
As a boy you get worse grades than girls
There are no safe-spaces for men/boys.
As a man you get to pay child support for children that resulted of you being raped.
Medical issues that mainly affect men get a lot less funding (if any at all)than issues that affect women. For example in the US President Obama slashed funding for research into prostate cancer
when a woman hits a man in public it's "you show him girl!" when a man hits a woman in public, people call the police or beat him up
Men are more likely to suffer from lack of physical contact if they don't have a partner (can cause severe psychological problems). Yet they are shamed if they seek the company of sex workers even if they just want to be held or hugged
As a man people are far less understanding and forgiving if you make a mistake (don't get me wrong, this can also be a huge advantage because it makes you improve. One of the most sexist things you can do to a woman is not to hold her to a high standard and hold back criticism)
There are no men's issues officers and or groups in most companies, universities and schools.
Women think of 80% of men that their attractiveness is below average. So there is a small number of men who get a lot of attention from women. They don't even have to approach women, because women will approach them. But for most men it is pretty difficult to catch women's attention because even if they belong to the 30% most attractive men they might get deemed unattractive. (in response to a comment: if you belong to the 20% most attractive men you are deemed by women to be more attractive than average)
This is more an addendum to a point I made above but 40% of women admitted freely to forcing a man to have sex with them, which basically means 40% of women freely admit to having raped a man at least once.
Anderson 1998 β Survey of 461 women (general population) 43% secured sexual acts by verbal coercion; 36.5% by getting a man intoxicated; threat of force β 27.8%, use of force β 20%; By threatening a man with a weapon β 8.9%.
Anderson and Aymami (1993) 28.5% of women reported the use of verbal coercion, 14.7% had coerced a man into sexual activity by getting him intoxicated and 7.1% had threatened or used physical force.
Sisco, Becker, Figueredo, & Sales (2005) β A third of women reported that they had verbally harassed a person or pressured the person into performing a sexual act that the person felt uncomfortable with while roughly one in ten performed a coercive sexual act that would be considered illegal (e.g., sexual acts that involved a person who was unable or unwilling to consent)
It is totally acceptable in society to paint all men as evil sexist rapists. Yes, some people get called out for that but they don't lose their jobs even if they say something like "the male population should be kept at about 10%"
Men get more harassment on the internet Men Are Harassed More Than Women Online
(To be fair I found some sources that claim the opposite or are agnostic on this topic but none of them addressed all the points mentioned in the above source)
