I've talk to some people here in Finland and they're saying 40D3000 will NOT be discontinued (at least not in the near future). Apparently no salesperson here is aware of the possibility of discontinuing 40D3000, and while it's true that lately no-one seems to have these tellys in stock, a new shipment of many 40D3000s will arrive within weeks.
One salesperson had said that due to a large demand they have had difficulties to keep a full stock of these tellys (maybe Sony never thought that so many people would rush out to buy HD Ready tellys in this age of Full HD). While I do believe that with the four new Full HD models Sony is releasing this fall and the possibility of D3500, D3000 (not counting 32") might just fade away. However, as I said it seems that at least here in Finland 40D3000 is going to be selling at least for a while.
